Yeah, hope you HAMBers out there are safe.
Last big-ish one I experifnced, I was on the toilet at the time - Dilema was finnish what I was doing and risk a very undignified death if the house collapsed or.... well, the other option was just as unpleasant !

Very little damage here at home, but I did go downtown to the park after coming home from work in SLO. No power, nothing better to do than gawk in the park. Sure hits home when you see it up close. Knowing that people have to be under all the debris. Didn't stay very long. The landscape will be a little different around the park. Mainly just one building complex and the rest looks to be superfical. There was damage to the Paso Inn. Saw a car that was under bricks that look to be from a chimney from the Inn.

Lots of stuff like that around town.

    carl,
glad you are o.k.........man i love that town .......glad it wasn't worse....take care

  11. What a bummer! I went to Paso for the first time last May and you can't help but fall in love with the town. It has a great old time feel to it and the place is spotless. I took a picture of a kustom as it was passing Pan Jewelers--what a kool looking building! Sad it is now history.

Hope all you Hambers out in that area are A-OK. Paso will definitely be different this year.

    Damn this sucks.................................E

we live on the ring of fire.

glad to hear you are ok.

we get earthquakes too and sometime even a volcano will go off..

funny how you take for granted that the earth is a stable safe place.

it was definetely an odd experience for me... most earthquakes Ive felt were over by the time I realized what it was.. this one felt like it lasted a good 30 to 45 seconds.. and I was about 100 miles or so from the epicenter.

anways, glad everyone (for the most part) is OK... and hopefully 3 fatalities will be all that there are!!

I felt it at work all the way down here in Lancaster. I was really surprised that it was so far away. It was a long one.. no rumble sounds, but a weird swaying back and forth. I get motion sick, and it gave me a friggin migrain that hasn't gone away yet...

In here is not anykind of nature disasters, would be great to feel or see earthquake, toronado or hurricane. OK, OK, I'm little bit extreme guy [IMG] Some times I'll have my own personal earthquakes but it means that I'll have stepped on the bottle of funnyguy lemonade [IMG]

Mother natures reality check! Is always sad to hear of a natural disaster not matter where it is. Some how it brings people closer together. Some how people become stronger from such events!

    Hey CalifCarl,

    Glad to hear yer O.K.

We're down here in Littlerock next to Lancaster ... didn't feel a thing... But then again I think I was drivin' around when it hit.

    Do you know Harry?
Known 'em for awhile now...Can't think of the last name.. He gotta real nice Buick.. Lives on the edge of town. We crash at his place during the show. Anyway just wonderin' how he's doin' hope he's A.O.K.

The deal doesn't look good on T.V. They said over 80 buildings we're pretty messed up and you guys have had had like over 50 aftershocks. Damn sorta wondering' if Penny and Rich are gonna be able to put on this years Memorial Day show.

Is there any kind of Relief deal being put together or does the city have that covered?

They have only shown Paso on T.V.

Would like to know' bout some of the other small towns and villages around the area like Solvang. How did they fair?

I have to say things are bad, but maybe more hype than not. The 80 some building are closed until they have been inspected. Damage to them maybe just minor, but being closed for precaustion. Hey Arnold! Should be in town now, I always knew he would be back!

I don't know Harry. I'm sure the shows will go on. Just got hit with an aftershock. Biggest one since the first! About a 8 to 10 second shake. Small but real.

Well this next year's show will be interesting to say the least.

I called a friend and gawt Harry's fone number... He didn't know his last name either... Just Harry...

He's gawt one of the biggest kustom model and di cast collection I've ever seen. Most of the stuff he built and kustomized himself..
Some pretty kewl never seen before stuff.. His house is cover from floor to ceiling in the things... I was a little concerned that he
might be buried in it...and as I understand he had quite a mess to pick up..

Anyway you all take care and hang on.

And if there is any thing that is needed up that way let us know...

My wife's Aunt & Uncle live across the hill from Gig harbor on the bay looking at Tacoma and they said they're going to just put their chairs on the beach in front of their house and watch the lava flow down to the bay thru Tacoma when the volcano blows... [IMG]
