Your pictures came through perfectly ... front and rear 3/4 views. Maybe my computer and/or ISP is better than I give them credit for!! Looking forward to the chop pictures.

He Rick, take the pieces that you cut out, paint them black and polish them, knock the paint back of the cut edges and give them to a restorer and tell him you cut a nice, finished car. Of course, be ready to run like hell!

Dale: I like the idea of painting the cut pieces.

Here are a couple of pictures showing the tacking of the door jamb to the quarter skin for stability while the wood is out and the cross supports to stabilize the body before the top is cut off. All the wood had to be removed for the dipping process.

Just got back from Pete's. I have some good video of the chopping process that my son is going to help me post on youtube either tonight or tomorrow. I will post the link at the same time.

Most of the photos were on a video yesterday but here are 2 of the stills. The photo on the left is Pete removing the spot welds and the picture on the right is the front pillar with the body skin removed so the inner structure can be welded completely after the chop. Most chops are done by only welding the sheet metal back together. This way gives much better structural integrity to the body as Ford had intended.

The video turned out awesome.....except it's sideways. I won't have that fixed until Monday. Sorry!!!
Maybe this will help. I have about 20 P-WOOD'S Garage shirts available in assorted sizes. Same artist, quality and price as the E & B shirts. If anyone is interested, you can PM or e-mail me.
    Thanks again,

JUST saw this thread.... your car caused me to get into Nostalgia drags in a big way in 1983 the first time I saw it in CA, went home and started building drag cars starting with a '41 Willys and ending with a '34 Ford roadster running against Jerry Moreland in his blown 40...... yes, GOOD times!

    Scarletfever-

It's always nice to know we had a positive influence with the sedan even though we had no idea at the time. Just 2 guys having fun. Upload failed last night. I am going to try it again today.
When we raced at Fremont, we used to stay with Tom. I think he knew we were broke back then. Great guy I haven't seen in 25+ years. Say hi to him for me.

    Hey, Rick
Borrowed this from Flipper's Frog Follies coverage. Is this your old car?

No. This is the tribute car done by Bill Paul about 2 years ago. He did a modernized version of our sedan.

Looks like Pete is doing his super fine work on this one. The rear window lowered is a good idea. I searched youtube this morning and couldn't locate link. I will check later.

I watched your car run....it was my first ever drag race as a "spectator" and i bought a T-shirt there, probably Pomona.... went home and literally started a car like the one on my shirt. a chopped 34 5W.

i will tell Tom hi, next time i see him. he is still building and i was invited to "pilot" his cackle car in Austin at the Lone Star Roundup and San Antonio at Vintage Air's open house this year. he always speaks very fondly about you guys.

i emailed him late and when i hear from him.... will let you know.

everyone should see your video account of the chop.

we had a friend with a '32 5W, he went out and street raced it one night, got a (BIG) ticket..... offered it for sale to us the same evening.... we picked it up from the impound, brought it back to the shop, called a couple of buds and tore it down, chopped it 3+ inches, tacked it back to where it looked right and i would give any amount to have had a video of that night.

Just have to remember it in our minds! getting pretty full by now.

i turned into the "Deuces Wild" poster we did of it
