    Rick,
Good to see you this past weekend, and meet Lurker Mick. Finally I have someone to do my tin work. Now deadline is late June to be done.

Done meaning painted and upholstered? Pretty optimistic when you are relying on others.

Steve aka5w32 sent the battery box I just received.

At first I was real excited, then disappointed and then excited again.

    The reason?
Look at the box it was sent in.

    Thanks again Steve!

Pete and I went on a "field trip" to check out a wagon for the top. No luck today but have a lead on a top for Thursday's "field trip".

Waiting on an answer from a guy in Texas on the seats.

    Patience isn't my strong suit!

Craig Wise sent me information on fabric for the seats. Thanks to his info, I have figured out our seats were out of a 1975 Mustang II. Samples are on their way.

If the name sounds familiar, he was the owner of our chassis for quite a few years and the one we bought it back from.

    Thanks Craig!

    BTW-nice envelope!

  9. Rick-
If you can get the correct fabric, are you still needing seats? If you recall, I found you a pair of blue Mustang II seats in Hesperia, but they needed to be recovered. I have been on the hunt for Mustang II seats and have discovered that those cars have all but dried up. They used to be plentiful in wrecking yards, but not anymore.

    Alex-
I believe they were all vinyl, and at the time I didn't know if the fabric would be available. If you could find out if they are still available, I would appreciate it. Also,
could you ask them if all Mustang II's used the same seat.
    Thanks for the help!

Yes, they're gone now...Butchers ripped the frontal suspensions out of them, then just discarded them like like old shoes...same as they must have done with all the '32s, never see any of those in the wrecking yards either!

Strip them of the front axles and they are just so much...junk...sad, but probably true.

The dash showed up today. Dealing with Kenny aka oldrodkid was easy and friendly. The dash showed up when it was supposed to and the packaging protected it perfectly.

    Thanks again Kenny!

Thursday's field trip produced nothing. The top had rust holes in it and the guy thought that meant it was made of gold. It wasn't even worth it at free!
I talked to a guy in Williams, CA and it sounds like he has a good top. Just waiting to see where the holes for the roof rack are positioned. If it is only on the perimeter, then it is something we can work with. If they are in the middle then we'll pass on it also. If its good, I still need to figure out how to get it here undamaged.

Hey Rick, is the guy in Williams a wrecking yard. If so, I know where it is and it's only about a hour from me and I can probably get down to you fairly easy. Let me know.

Thanks Chris and Dale. Still waiting to hear back from the guy in Williams. I have also located one in Texas and I'm waiting to hear back from him also.

Pretty sure it is. Try Space age paints in Mesa, or Library of Paints in Phoenix.

Thanks! I just called them and they carry single stage acrylic enamel in the Sherwin-Williams line. Looks like I'll be going to Arizona soon.
    Thanks again,

I've got 2 leads on tops. The problem is one has 18 holes in it. Too many to deal with. The owner of the second top is supposed to contact me tomorrow.

I'm not giving up yet. I have found out that 61-64 Ford and Mercury wagons are all the same.

For that roof, try Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno. Talk to Jerry. 559-237-0918.
They have hundreds of old cars.

    Thanks again Don!

  27. It was my pleasure. I enjoy "recon" missions to the wrecking yard. I was just nervous that the Mustang II with the seats might be gone because the local yards are rotating cars in and out of the yard at a rapid pace. We went to three separate yards and there was only ONE Mustang II! Here's a picture of them:

Keep me posted if need anything else!

    Alex-
They look good enough to run as is!

Still waiting for the fabric samples to show up but at least we now have a foundation to start with.

    Thanks again Alex!

One has to wonder if Jill, Sabrina or Kelly ever occupied these seats(?)....

I used to drive a '77 Mustang II in college. I remember the seats as being rather comfy.
