I've had a few requests for shirts from guys going to LARS. If anyone else is interested let me know. On Friday I'll be at SoCal Speed Shop and Walden's. I will be at LARS on Saturday. You can reach me on my cell phone at 626-622-4488.

The very last item we are looking for is a grill shell. We have looked at many, but they didn't meet Pete's standards and Pete won't buy one site unseen.
I know we will find one this weekend. Any leads are appreciated. As this is an original grill and shell we need, we are willing to pay a premium for a premium grill and shell.

Thanks again for your interest in our project!

Rick, hope to see you at So-Cal or Waldens on Friday, or the show on Saturday.

Brent should be there by now with your dash, he is picking his roadster up from Gabe's.

  11. I'm going to Bobby's on Friday and I'll be hitting the swap meet at the LARS on Saturday. I'll catch up with you some time this weekend. The wife wants to spend Friday with me because she'll be working on Father's Day and she knows I want to go to the Roadster Show on Saturday. I'll tell her that Bobby will have lots of ice cream on Friday, and she'll be good to go.

Got anything small at Terry's that needs to be delivered? The parts chaser isn't done yet, so I can't bring down anything bigger than about 3'x3.

Hey Rick and Pete, are you looking for a filled or not grille shell? I do have a couple of nice ones that are unfilled.

The grill and shell is all taken care of. Thanks Dale.
As I talked about before, Dale and I have had '34's for a long time. I never knew he had '32 parts. Let that be a lesson to all of us. Ask everyone when you are looking for something because we don't always know who has what!

I had the good fortune to have lunch with Jack from Virginia(JackandDueces) and his cronies. He is the guy that provided the dash tunnel for the sedan. The best part of the HAMB is getting to meet such great guys. I actually met him last year at LARS and Jack still wanted to meet up this year. No accounting for taste!

If any of you see me at the open houses or LARS, please feel free to say hi. I'll be the one in the E&B shirt. Also, anyone wearing a shirt at the event that I see, I will give (FREE) another shirt to them also. Just my way of saying thanks for your support!

Here is a picture of Pete with the new dash and the original E&B dash we traded it for. I can live with the chips and scratches so we can preserve more history.

As in the past, things just keep falling into place. It reaffirms we are doing the right thing!

  16. Rick, I looked for you yesterday at the show. That place was packed. I saw Pete's area in the swap meet, I talked to Jim Jacobs, and bunch of other guys. I did see a seller in the swap meet area with one of your shirts, and I ribbed him about it.

Did you happen to notice how many *****in' '32 sedans were in the swap meet area? I was in heaven. By the end of the day, my head was spinning after trying to absorb all of the incredible cars at that show. Amazing.

    Alex-
I just cruised around all day.

Met up with Lurker Mick and his friends from Utah. Mick showed up with his E&B shirt on and got his free one for wearing it. Mick provided the hood tops for the sedan. One of his friends was Dale Hammond. He has the original body shell of the sedan. Glad I was finally able to meet him. He filled in a lot of the blanks. Nice guy too!

Thanks for dinner Mick. If I had known you were really going to treat, I would have brought my whole family AND ordered food to go!!!

    Thanks again,
    Rick

Sorry for the lack of communication but I have hammering, filing and putting the mud on the frame and ch***is components. With all the nooks and crannies, I think it is easier to prep a body than a ch***is.
Pretty boring stuff. Once I'm done with this part of the project, progress should really pick up steam.
I'm also a firm believer in a thin skim coat of bondo as opposed to thick, multiple coats of primer.

Good to hear from ya Rick! I figured you were working hard. I wish I would have got to meet you at LARS, but that place makes it sooooo hard to remember all people you want to look for! Distraction city!

  20. It's good to hear from you, Rick. Doing something right always takes more time than slam-dunking it. Doing a ch***is can be nerve-wracking. You can work on it for weeks, go over it hundreds of times, and STILL find spots you missed!

Rick, always enjoy meeting up with you and Pete, and yes you should have brought the family, they would be proud that you hang with such a cl***y group!

Dale thought it was great that you would meet us for dinner and really enjoyed talking with you. We probably won't be in California again until CHRR, but hope to see you there.

    Hey Rick,
What's taking so long? On TV they build cars in a week or two! :D
Hope to see you at CHRR. I'm planning to drive my sedan up, God willing and the crick don't rise.

Stop! Your depressing me. I can't even prep and paint a frame in 1 to 2 weeks. Well, I guess I could if it would only be seen on TV.:D
    See you at CHHR.

The frame is ready for primer.

On another note, here are pictures of Pete's other sedan he is getting ready to drive to Andy Brizio's 80th birthday party. I helped a little in putting the engine and trans in yesterday.

Only Pete would have a vintage Schwinn hand grip on his hoist handle!

Is Terry doing the paint work on your frame?

Pete's sedan has that clean, "Pete Look" that he's famous for. Simple, well thought out, and never flashy. Awesome!

Nope. Terry has a lot of work going on now. I will be painting it myself. Terry was a way of "buying time" for me. There are only so many hours available.

Peter is very traditional. Note the Chevy orange motor. Much easier to paint it black and forget it.
