Glad to see this car come back to life. It surely is one of the iconic cars from the past. I always loved the fact that it was pure business.

Thanks for your encouragement. Not all parts of this project are fun.
I'm spending the day cleaning off 40 years of grime and over spray on the tires. Something only a real hot rodder will do is run your typical Firestone 7.50/11.00-16 Grooved Rear R-154 on the street. "NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE FOR RACING PURPOSES ONLY" That says it all!
    Thanks again,
    Rick

    Hey Rick,

I could send my 11 year old son over to help with the cleaning this weekend(looking for a reason to get him off the x-box)

I couldn't punish anyone's son with cleaning the tires. Not even mine!

Pete and I spent the day taking all the wood out of the body in preparation for the stripping and actually had a great time just talking and planning our next steps. It is as if we never lost a day the last 30 years and just picked up where we left off.

I want to say thanks to all the hambers that have offered to help work on the car with us. I guess Pete and I are greedy. We want all the fun for ourselves. Can anyone relate to this?

Finally, some pictures. Taking the body out of storage to be stripped at Pete's house preparing for the "bath". That's Pete and me in the picture working on the body.
Thanks for your patience on the pictures.

Tom Vandenberg has agreed to building the headers for the sedan. For those of you unfamiliar with him, he was a high school classmate of Pete's and built the headers that were on my first 34 ford 5 window coupe 37 years ago. He also has a 28 model A that I think was ahead of its time. It was and still is an everyday street car with 4 wheel independent suspension, electric sun roof, ran 12.60 in the quarter and was built by a 20 year old in 1971. He learned the header trade at Horsepower Engineering in Pasadena.

If Pete and I get the rest of the wood out this weekend as planned, I will be dropping off the sedan on Monday. I was told it will be ready in a week to 10 days. As much surface rust as it shows in the photos, it is money well spent.

Does anybody know how to post pictures from my album to here?

  24. Rick, pics in your albums on your profile page are the easiest to post. You just click the album pic you want to post so it enlarges, then copy and paste it in a reply to this thread.

    Dean:
Thanks for the help! I thought some of you might find these pictures interesting.
I found this stuff packed away in a box labeled "Rick's stuff". This is what they gave away to the the winners at the races in the "old days". It usually took about a month after the event for the prizes to be printed. Hand done before computers!
    Thanks again Dean,
    Rick

  26. Very cool stuff Rick! I really like the shirt with the sedan and the Hustler on it. Thanks of sharing.

    Rick,
Just wanted to say a big thanks for the tip to Strip Clean, I dropped of my Model A parts yesterday and had quite a conversation with George, great guy. Come to find out his location was across the street from where I worked in the late 60's at Urich Ben Hur Gas Station. He told me he's been there since early 70's and he remembered the gas station and the topless bar next door, oh the memories.
