  2. The rubber bump stops need to either be shaved down or have holes drilled in them to soften them up. I've read that'll make a big difference and not bottom out over bumps.

Looking at the "after" in the front, I personally would put the second leaf back in and "flip The main leaf over," reversing the eyes, leave out 4th, and take out the shortest one, grind off rubber bumpers quite a bit.
Maybe if the main leaf was new, but it looks "breakable" to me.
    (perish the thought.)

    does sit good tho.

I know this is an old thread but any issues with this since doing it? Thanks

I would save up a little $ and at least get the axle dropped or springs

Any info on how it has held up? My 64 F100 has 55k original miles on it and am looking to get it dropped without spending a ton.

I did the same thing on a ‘57 short bed. Worked great. I moved my rear upper shock mounts out and further up on their crossmember to get a better shock angle and regain some stroke. The inner hole on the bracket to the outer hole on the crossmember and drilled 2 new holes. I also put air shocks on the rear so I could air it up and haul something when needed. Best of both worlds and reasonable costs. I also put poly liners between the leaves when I put it all back together. Wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
