It may work with a 15 inch disc brake wheel, but NOT with the original NON DISC BRAKE wheel the caliper won't let the wheel bolt on

It does state low profile calipers so they clear the stock wheels,

Definitely no chance they will work?

I've used them a couple times and don't remember them hitting the stock rims. They use a E100 caliper from what I remember

I have run exactly the same kit but for a chevy 52 i had for a couple of years ago, great kit and no clearing issuse did run stock 15 inch rims. I also have a friend that has a 50 Ford and same kit and the same there no clearing issuse. If i go with discs on my 49 Ford i will buy this to. Good luck!

  8. I have this kit with STOCK wheels.........Everything is a go. I spoke with the owner of P.O.L,who designed this for his personal 51.

Live and learn, enough seem to have used them. I went to a local parts store to look at the caliper, because of my past experiences, I wanted to view one. I've used jamco on a couple of mercy and liked them. I bought items from poi in riverside and been happy. But I think on this I'd stick with jamco. The father and son have always been good to me.

Reviving an old post here. Looks like this kit is still available from POL. Has anyone used it recently, is it a genuine bolt on kit?

I assume you also have to purchase the 1949-51 Mercury-MERC-Fullsize Car Power Brake Booster Kit as well to get it working with rear drums?

I’m in the process of installing the kit on my ‘51 Ford and the disc brake kit was a breeze. Fits stock wheels with no issues whatsoever. I’m doing the GM master cylinder for manual brakes and it seems like it’s going to work out fine as well. I am running all new stainless brake lines since the master is behind the transmission cross member just because I want everything new on the car and the original brake lines won’t work with the proportion valve. I’ll be posting on my thread about this and dropping the car as well.

  14. No. You don't need the booster unless you want it. Mine stops fine without. But- MC location is a where? There's a thread in the archives here how to make a bracket to mount the new MC in the stock location if that's what your after.
