    Hey guys,
Is any one else out there who is also a member on eBay? Just today it is asking for my SSNumber and credit card numbers and bank account numbers along with the security codes on the back. Has anyone else found this to be? and how do you feel about this? I'm not certain I want to give such info out without knowing if it's happening to anyone else. Please let me know what you think. Joe

Do not give the info....sounds like a scam! Scammers fish for people to give up their info by using emails that look like Ebay emails.

It's a scam, don't give them anything. Forward the email to spoof@ebay.com and they will take care of it.

  4. Ebay doesn't ask for all that info, it's a scam! Don't do it!

are you new to the IntArWebs or what? that is the oldest scam in the book other than grampa Simpson giving his credit card numbers to the guy on the phone to see if they are lucky and he wins the prize. I mean really, c'mon.

ok, so I know there's a problem, but I can't get around the "attention notice" that keeps popping up and asking for the info. It's not an email.....it occurs when I sign in my password to get into my eBay summary......that's why I'm asking........Joe

Change your ebay, paypall, cc, bank and other passwords now.
hope you didn,t log in to ebay from that bogus site.

Anything you do on ebay, do it through ebay's main page....

    I wish you luck.

It's a scam as others have said, forward it to spoofebay, same thing if you get something funny from PayPal. All legit messages will be on your Message file on the My eBay section. There are fake second chance offers, agreeed settlements and other BS that scammers try.

If you didn't go to ebay through an e-mail they sent, but actually went there from your bookmark from your favorites colum, then send them an e-mail from the contact page on ebay. Ask them what's up.

If you recieved an E-mail asking for this is a scam Ebay will NEVER lose this info or need it again once you have signed up. If your signing up for an account its ok.

What you need to do is go "tools" on your home page then "internet options" and clean all your temporary files then run your anti virus! DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO!!!

Sounds legit to me....one other thing, can I borrow 50k??....I promise to pay it back tuesday.

  17. Here's my suggestions...

    Close all your windows.
    Hit - START
    Hit - RUN
    Type - %TEMP%
    Hit - OK
    Delete everything

    then

    Hit - START
    Hit - CONTROL PANEL
Hit - NETWORK and INTERNET CONNECTIONS
    Hit - INTERNET OPTIONS
    Delete COOKIES and HISTORY

    then

    Open your browser
    Type in www.ebay.com
    Sign in

See if that crap is still there...

Run a good anti-spyware program on your computer. If you're getting random popups you probably have picked something up you need to clean off the computer. I like Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/, but any good one will do.

Never answere any questions like that through email, always go to your ebay acount and see if its in your messages there, But even if that message is there dont give the information or respond to it. Also if they say you owe money to someone in an email and you click on the item number they say you owe on, and then it asks for you too sign in....dont sign in because its a way for them to get your password, if you sign in then they can get your personal info that way like credit card numbers, paypal numbers and ect....

Since you say you are new to this, I'll spell it out a bit more ...

Check the the Address of the e-bay page you are at when you get this "attention notice".

Chances are it is not E-bay, but a fake e-bay site that you somehow got redirected to.

Now if you have logged into this fake e-bay page, they will have your e-bay password and can run scam auctions using your real e-bay account.

Go to the real ebay http://www.ebay.com and change your password there right now. If you can't login, you are too late !
