For those of you who sell on ebay, and who have bad experiences with non paying bidders on your auctions, and problems with generally deranged potential bidders, you may be aware that ebay allowed you to set up a "Blocked Bidder List" so that you could keep the people who had not paid you or who you felt you did not want to deal with, from not being able to bid on your auctions. Well, ebay decided a while ago that ebay users who had an old ebay user name that was an email adress (something like: ratrodder@xyz.com which is a FAKE email addy) would have to change that user name to something that was not an email adress (it had something to do with spam email problems). Sometime within the last 2 weeks ebay's "Crack programming staff" put in motion some software program that was supposed to delete such user names from all the sellers "Blocked Bidders Lists". I just went to my blocked bidder list to add another deadbeat to the over 200 names I had on my list (some of which I learned about when the skipped on paying on a HAMBers auction) and found that my list was GONE...EMPTY. I went to an ebay seller discussion board and found that this has been a big topic of discussion for about a week, and that ebay has had NO RESONSE to thousands of complaints and requests from sellers on how to recover those lost/deleted lists. Many sellers are not yet aware that their lists have been deleted. I did not have my list backed up and there are some really deranged people on that list that I never want to be able to bid on my auctions again, as they would probably bid and win some cheap item so they could leave me a negative comment (and of course they would not pay for the item either). Some sellers said that by logging into ebay and accessing their blocked bidder list from a link on the site map that they were able to somehow recover their list by refreshing the list, but it did not work for me and for most sellers whose comments I read. I know some of you like 286merc may have interest in this ebay screwup du jour.
Unless you have your "History" set at a short interval- you should be able to view where you had that page up"recently"In the History function........good luck
I only had one jerk on my blocked bidder's list who's using an email account (AOL) as a user name, and he's still on there. He's also presently doing business on Ebay with the same name (email acct), so.........??
ebay said they were getting rid of those email addy ID's, but I guess they haven't gotten rid of them all yet. I got in touch with ebay live help, and found that they knew a few days ago that if someone added or subtracted an ID from their blocked bidder list (like I did today) that they would not be able to restore the other ID's/names that ebay had deleted. But did they think to send an email to sellers warning them about this? NO. They have some of the most incompetent, customer unfriendly employees that I have ever seen. They spring software changes on the site that are untested and then figure out how to "fix" all the problems, when the compliants come in by the thousands. What a way to run a billion dollar business.
