  1. This is possibly another example of parts that were originally forged but cast as cheap repro.

  2. If I remember correctly the aluminum box is a 63 only. It has the short splined shaft. The size and spline count is the same as a Vegas. Do to the angle of the box I dont reverse them but instead make a wedge to go behind it.
    To rebuild one the bushings; seals and bearings are readily available at and good bearing shop.

    Even in the 60's when they first started Using Corvair boxes in T buckets guys who tried using them in other heavier cars had issues with them . The might work for a few passes a year on a straight line race track without an issue but usually didn't hold up on the street.

    If you need Cheap or inexpensive steering pieces buy a used oem unit and rebuild it or have it rebuilt rather than wasting money on the usually suspect off shore made units.
