I have an econoline axle on my T Bucket and I ordered a new steering arm, my old one was not real safe looking. My problem is the brake line hits right into the arm. My brake line is female so it needs this adaptor to go to the wheel cylinder. What can I do to make all this fit? Is there a different brake line I can use. It is going to be exposed so I'd like it to be something nice but it doesn't have to be chrome or fancy. Any ideas would be great. I'm going to swap the zerks fitting to a straight one so I don't have to remove the arm to grease the kingpins. I still need to clearance that top a little but I quit working on it when I saw the brake line issue Here's the problem.
other than the grease zert being inaccessible without modification, how do things fit without those spacers between the arm and the backing plate? Looks like something a little notching/cutting might remedy...
I thought of that but didn't have any luck finding what I'm thinking in my head. Any idea where to look?
That wheel cylinder is probably made to use a 3/16 inverted flare fitting. That would be a 3/8-24 thread. You may be able to pull the inverted flare seat out and get more threads for a banjo bolt that size. Just remember a banjo has to have a fully machined seat for the sealing washer. The adapter you have in there now, does it seal against the inverted flare seat, or the wheel cylinder casting? Bob
Or you could s**** the drums,and put on mid 70's Chevy malibu rotors. Then all you need to do is make a spacer to make up the spindle difference in length.Make a bracket for the same year disk caliper and make the car stop a whole lot better. Thats what I'm running on my 34.
A little? I'd have to remove that whole inner corner. Wouldn't that weaken the steering arm? Can you post a pic of yours?
By the look of the fitting there is a copper washer fitted in between the adapter and the wheel cylinder so that readily lends itself to a banjo fitting.Surface already machined to take banjo bolt , banjo and washers. Not and uncommon thing to find on some makes. A stroll around a wrecking yard just might nett you what you need.
I just talked to him last night, he doesn't have anything for drum brakes only the disk brake arm. Yea it has a machined surface, it would accept a banjo bolt granted the size of the head won't interfere with the body of the wheel cylinder.
Speedway or Allstar both have the Banjo fitting your looking for. Your current line will thread into it. As far as the zerk fitting goes you can put a straight one on it and have plenty of clearance.
