They are beat and the guy won't let them go. They're not really worth the trouble.

Getting a little closer to the photoshop version. Hoping to paint my flares and hood soon. Just got a 102" CB whip antenna I need to hook up and a door extender to clear the huge wheels in back. I had to wait a month for the back tires to come in from Summit. They quit making them and I was lucky to get a set. Chrome reverse Cragars 15x10 in back and 15x8 up front. Gonna drop the front a little as well as add flares, spoiler and side pipes. Just broke right now.

Man I really dig that club plaque, it looks killer!!!

That Vista Cruiser roof is worth more than what you paid for the whole van. Please keep us posted on your progress. Brad

  13. Go to Yahoo groups and search econoline.
econosrus is a pretty good one.

Alternatively, you can wait for me to get mypsychedelicvan.com up and running and join there.

Recently purchased this 1965 econoline supervan. Lots of ideas with few resources. Looking forward meeting other vanatics in the Spokane area. I'm in the market for correct side view mirrors, chrome head light bezels, passenger side barn door (with exterior handle), step/running board, rear seats, chrome half moon wheels (will trade existing mags). I'm wondering if I can put pop out windows on the drivers side cargo windows? Any ide'rs?

    Thanks!

I just picked up a '61 rapemobile (no side or back windows), will have pics up when I find some new wheels. Anyone have a set of 5x4.5 steelies, 15"? It's riding on some sick 4-cyl mustang alloys right now (sick as in bad), and I'm not showing it to anyone until they have been made into coke cans.

Couple of questions for my fellow vanpeople while I find wheels:
-where to find a heater core
-how to rebuild the column shift (the entire thing)

Thats good to hear. We had no idea what it was out of and purchused it cause we thought it was cool and didnt want it to be crushed. Were probably just gonna get the brakes fixed and sell it to someone whos got the time to do right by it.

I bought this one last week from Meteorgasser here on the HAMB and it's my favorite thing I've had in a long time. It's got the little 240 and auto tranny in it and the cool pop up camper top that's actually pretty slick. I had big plans to slam it and stick a small block in it but really I think I'm just going to make it run (and I think it will). I just put a set of old mickey thompson rader wheels with one inch whitewalls on it today as well as a bunch of old travel stickers. Tomorrow I start gutting the interior to redo as a fun surf style family hauler. The coolest part of this van is that I still have a matching trailer made from an old Econoline in 1967 that is actually even the same color. It should be quite the rig. I need to find two more M/T Raders for the trailer now...

Macs only has '65 and up heater cores. Mine is a '61, are they similar? I have a good feeling I will end up rigging something to work. 30 minutes of searching the nets yesterday and Macs was the closest thing i found. Maybe I could get the Napa guys to let me put my hands on some heater cores, so all I have to do is match up the dimensions to mine.

Torpedo - post an introduction. It's the polite thing to do.

As for heater cores... which one? Mine has 2. :D I have one under the dash and a rear mounted, factory accessory heater. Luckily the one under the dash was in good shape, but they are available new and I even see them brand new on ebay all the time. The rear mounted one had to be completely re-cored, but it will be worth it. That thing is an ice box in the winter!

Scoob - nice find! That 240 should give you plenty of power, but if not, you could literally drop a 300 I6 in it's place.

Econovanman - is your rear seat a couch?! Nice. :D

  28. U betcha! Got two. One is a 67 heavy duty van with a 300/ automatic. The other is a project pickup I have owned since 1981. Life's journey got in the way, but I never let go of it. I found a 1984 Mustang 302 HO for it. I chopped the top, but I hate it. I want to whack the sucker completely off and install some kind of hot rod style windshield/ big n little whitewalls, and keep the patina foe awhile. I'm new to this posting stuff, can't wait to be in contact with more econofreaks in the future. KEEPEMROLLING!!!!
