We are making a disc conversion for the 64-67 Econolines; have two options:

    1. Complex setup to fit inside stock 14" Ford rim
    2. Simple cheaper setup with bigger calipers to use aftermarket 14" rims

Will be working on this today. Feedback more than welcome

FYI, there are already 2-3 companies doing that, so you will have some competition. It's always good to support a HAMBer though.

I seen them - they do not fit inside the stock wheel, mine does.

I think one company had a set that fit, but if not, good for you for figuring it out!

  8. I just need that whole van!!! AWESOME!!!

  9. Finally got mine fired up again. Had to pull the power train but its back in and running. Disc conversion and power brakes are all done. A few days on the body and it should be ready for a few test miles.

Broke the 289 hipo in the Side Show Freak. Putting a stock 289 back in. May even put exhaust on it. Been running open dumps on it for a year and half. Got to make it to the last Hunnert Car Pile Up...... See Ya there Hellfish!

I've wanted an early Econo since before I could drive. still have a few "1001 truck and van ideas" and "Truckin" mags from the late 70s/early 80s I've missed a few good ones and have passed on allot of terds. I've been driving for over 35 years now and finally found a CHERRY 61!

Plans are to keep it clean and simple. Low with no bags, A Chubby Chassis independent front end with a manual rack, 8 inch rear end, 4 wheel disc. and a 302EFI/AOD with AC.
Color will be in an orange pearl with dark tans and browns for the int.

Looks like someone added reverse lights to that '61 (not available on Econos until 67) and maybe frenched the rear license plate. Nice solid foundation!

Do an intro, please. No one likes talking to strangers. :)

Econos came with 14" rims (and some with 13") from the factory. 205/75 will fit on a stock rim and in the wheel well, but it's much larger than stock. I think that's what I have on the rear of mine. My fronts are 185, IIRC. Stock rims were, I think, 7" wide. FWIW, I believe that "Supremes" is a brand.

Way back on page 30, I was trying to get a big hunk of rust of an Econoline into driving condition. I gave up on that one and recently bought myself a driving 1961 five window P/U. There is some 'all the way through' rust on both outside sides of the truck and the steering is super loose, but the inline 6 200 runs great. Thought I'd add to the eye candy on the Econoline Madness thread...

Oh and by the way, my name is Spike. Nice to be part of the thread again!

Both my family and my wife's had these back then. There's was always catching fire. Our's the the engine mount bolts gave up, it looked like a slant six in there. I was in trouble untill the mech. said they had been loose for a while. Passed my drivers test in '63 Econoline. My dates moms never liked it or me.

I had 14x7 Standard Offset Unique brand Supremes, they barely fit at stock height, now with a lower stance I fit 14x6 Cragars with a little bit of room. I'd play it safe and get 14x6, there's a few companies that make Supremes, make sure the ones you get have reinforced spokes otherwise you might end up chasing the runaway hoop down the freeway.

    Stock height, 14x7's, tight fit:

Thanks, Stevie G! Stoked to have something to talk about again.

Calie, it looks like you have quite the project on your hands there. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress that you make on that one!

Recently I did the '50 Pontiac taillight swap...

The tail light swap process: (l to r)
    1. The stock tail light.
    2. The original bracket wouldn't work for mounting.
    3. Cut the bracket out
    4. Some horrible welding of a newly cut circle
    5. Mounting hole cut and screw holes drilled.
    6. FILLER

Just joined the HAMB. I'm the administrator of 'howsbaileydoing' and see there may be questions on mods I've done. I do not receive e-mail notifications forwarded to my outlook yet but I may soon. So if you have questions about the project try me at pcoffey@cableone.net. After three years I'll be getting back into it soon. Paul

Thanks Tiki_spike. Hope I can first get her on the road and respectable. I'll try to post at major events. I wish I had the vision of many on HAMB.

How do you post an image directly to a message on the HAMB? Thought I had done it correctly.

Just painted a new finned valve cover and carb hat too.
