Also check your radiator if it is not cooling properly it will continue to vaporlock. Had that problem radiator was blocked so enginw ran too hot and vapor locked

yea you know the funny thing is i bought this van from a guy that owns a radiator shop and it almost looks to me like he is running the stock radiator. It problably needs upgraded. Also i need to put a temp gauge on to see what my temp actually is.

    Thanks

I'm honestly not sure why holding the pedal to the floor can help with an overheated coil, but I will say that it has helped me in the past to play with the throttle a bit when a coil was overheated. Something about a "better" mixture for a weak spark or something or other...

Your coil could have an internal short that sperates when hot and comes back together when cooled back off.

Its just the bad circulation in the doghouse. Floor it and let 'er rip. Been doing it for about a year in my Econoline truck and van with no problems at all.

If it has a stock '63 radiator, or even a 6cyl Mustang one, it definitely needs to be upgraded!

I'm having some similar issues and I can't figure it out. I have a 61 Econoline. We re-routed the fuel line to get most of it out of the dog box. It starts up cold just fine. Gets up to 200 degrees and as soon as I stop for 5 minutes, start it up, it hesitates and jerks like it's not getting fuel. I've even been running the fan while it's parked to help keep it cool but it just doesnt help. I have some fuel line wrap coming tomorrow so I hope this makes some sort of difference but I'm not confident that it will. Any suggestions or ideas?

Same problem I've had and many others, high carb temps and Ethanol blends. My particular car, Chevy II, small compartment, 383 with fender well headers. Anytime it gets to at least 190 deg. and gets parked the engine heat soaks and fuel in the bowl begins to boil audibly after a few minutes and bubbles out the carb flooding the engine.
