I made a last minute decision this morning to drive 2 hours down to the Arkansas mile at Blytheville Arkansas, put on by the ECTA. Several cars, but off topic ones, have been right at or a bit over 200 mph.
There were several cars that are HAMB-friendly in attendance but this was one of the nicer ones. Also talked with the gentleman with the 60s Ford pickup that is on the HAMB but I apologize I forgot the owner's nameor the number of the truck. Maybe someone can help me out and give his name for his effort bringing his truck all the way to Arkansas!

    "Timings everything"........ Pretty good pun!

  4. As for the gentleman with the pickup, that’ll be @john mullen and the Virginia HAMB crew.

Typo from posting using my phone. Actually it's not AK or AT.....it's AR, and the title has been corrected. Thanks.

chryslerfan55...Thank you for filling in my blank on John Mullen and his crew from Virginia with the Ford pickup! They were great guys to visit with! Wish I had some brilliant idea to cure the truck's front end shimmy problem that seemed to appear out of thin air.

I got home from Blytheville about an hour ago and thought a lot about land speed racing on the way home. I'm 70 now, but when I was in my late teens to about 20 years old I did a tiny bit of drag racing. I've had a string of motorcycles, owned a couple dirt circle track cars and built a '40 Ford Tudor years ago that had a 389 Pontiac. In more recent years I built a T roadster and a '31 Ford Coupe. I'm just about to get a late-60's style FED that I built from the ground-up finished and it should be ready to take out for some shake-down runs in the next couple of weeks. In short....I've had a love affair with cars for literally all of my life.

Today was my 4th trip to the Arkansas Mile ECTA event and I must say LSR at the mile is really growing on me. Ideas of a street legal car that could be raced on the mile and perhaps run at the drag strip in ET racing is really starting to sound appealing. Running about 150 or so at the mile sounds like a nice round number. The car would need to be multi-use since I'm nearing the garage space capacity I now have. And before someone suggests building on.....no thanks. I have about enough to say grace over right now.;)

We've all heard of mid-life crisis, so maybe this is a later-life crisis?o_O

I attended a fall race at Blytheville a couple years ago. It was a good time. If you get a chance, go for the weekend.
