For the past few years I have been collecting as much information as I could to write a story about Eddy Edmunds-The creator of the greatest assortment of speed equipment for multiple types of engines. Where as most speed equipment producers stuck or stick to single types of engines he produced stuff for so many. From flathead Fords to overhead Cadillacs. If any of you guys out there have any info or his early advertisements ( his wife was a graphics designer thats why his ads looked so different) If you could send some good copies to me I will include it and post it all here first !! Thanks in advance............. Roy Pagnini .. pag4usa@pacbell.net

Sounds like a worthwhile endevor. I wish I could find the article about him that I know I have somewhere in my magazine collection. I remember that it was in either Popular Mechanics, or Mechanics Illustrated, and it was a 1952 issue. The article showed him, in white coveralls, installing a dual carb intake on a new Cadillac, as a pretty young thing in a torpedo bra looked on.

    Roy-
Shoot me your address. I'll mail you a color copy of a 1948 Edmunds flyer I have to add to your collection.

  11. Great job on the "Edmunds" story. I have a NOS 2 x 4 and a polished 2 x 4 Caddy intake as well as a set of his Caddy valve covers. I have only seen one set of his finned exhaust headers, Squeak Bell (Kiwi Konnection- Bakersfield) has them on a vintige roadster. Have not seen any other Caddy VCs either. This stuff is for my 32 Roadster hope to have going oneday!
If you happen to run across any Edmunds Caddy stuff that isnt spoken for, I'm interested. Once again, Great Job.
PS: You mentioned Glen of Salem Speed Shop, He built a 350 Horse 348 for my 60 Impala I was racing out of the Eugene/Springfield area in 60-63. It was the one to beat! Won MANY races with it, on the strip and the elusive Fri/Sat "Midnite Nationals" in the area. Ah, the memories!!
Good Luck on continuing your search. Dave

My next story is going to be on Glen Volz, He has been running that shop alone for 50 years, has to be the oldest speed shop run by the same guy in the U.S. I think he is now 82 and as sharp as a tack... Got some pictures of some caddy stuff today but don't think the guy wants to sell .... Roy

  13. Thanx, keep me in mind please. Dave

  14. Nice article Roy! I have an Edmunds intake for my rocket Olds that has the carb bases on two different heights and my friend has one that has the bases level. He says mine is for a boat motor and his is for a car. What do you think?

I tend to agree with him from what I saw of the factory pictures the low profiles seem to be for the car engines

Very interesting stuff, I didn't realize that he wasn't marketing towards hot rodders, his wide array of applications makes sense now.
