hi everyone, as you can tell by my post count im new, but im just gonna jump off in there and ask some technical questions tho, i havent gotten as far as the motor yet in my project, its a 75 ford f-150 has a 390 bored .40 over, and i was wanting to run a 3 deuce setup for nostalgic feel and looks since it was one of the last 2 years ford put the fe out, but i have a edelbrock f380 3x2 intake and since edelbrock has the series 94's out,has anyone used the new carbs yet, and if so how hard were they to set, i have had mannny negative things said to me on running a 3 deuce setup so any help would be appriciated

My Edelbrock was drilled for the Stromberg WW carbs so the Rochester carbs fits just fine. ***uming progressive linkage, I personally think a 390 will need more than a single 94 for normal driving.

mine is a 352 and there are an *** load of 350 SBCs running on a Rochester so I hope it will work well.

If it were mine, I'd redrill the intake to take the Rochester or WW carbs. I have a buddy that is selling a complete 62 Ford 3 deuce system.

  4. Back in the day, I had a B Gas dragster powered by an FE with six of em on there. They worked well.

I hate to be the one to bring this up but your project is too new for this board. Didn't you read that we deal with 1964 and older "traditional rods and customs"? I'm sure there are many other places you could get help with your project but not here.

You bring up a good point, but the Ford truck forums won't be much help. With a 3x2 intake set up he'll find more information here.

To 390fe bomber- just remove the pictures of the truck. A 390 FE with a 3x2 is traditional enough for this board, and if you search you'll find the FE's discussed quite a bit here. The '75 F100 (though nice!) is OT, so it doesn't belong.

yeah im going to use the progressive linkage, and was hoping maybe even jet the primary to a larger cfm if i had to if it would help.
ok cool, well i'll remove the pics no prob and i will appriciate any and all help with the 3 deuce and the fe, and i appriciate people standing up for me so far, and im sorry to miss the rule of the age of the vehicle ad thats my fault, but i dont see no point of being rude and being a stubborn *** on giving no help to somone who is gathering some knowledge on a project that is new ground for them

Backdating the intake on a 70's truck at great expense just so it performs not as well is a losing battle... A 4 barrel would perform way better for less than half the price. Keep an eye on this board and some of the "better" mags and sooner or later you'll have a hot rod or something older to give you the carb headaches you seek :)

first off, welcome. it can be a little rough around here if you get off topic, but that keeps this board on track. as far as a 3x2 set up in the truck your building, i think that will look cool and is different. wait for it......but, i think you may be under carbed. if your commited to doing it, go for it and let us know how it works. we can all benifit from your experience with that setup.

lol thanks dreddybear, i think your rite, all i really wanted to do with it is pay omage to the fe in its final years and not much for the performance end of that spectrum, so guess i'll move on to the next stage... heads question, upgrade to aluminum or rework the old iron ones lol
