    I checked several spare fittings
they all reflect what you find but not as drastic.
some of the barbed fittings thread OD measure as much as .005 smaller than the IF fittings.
all my IF fittings measure right at .625

you could try running a 5/8-20 tap in to loosen it up a bit

also, note the barbed fittings are steel verses the brass IF fittings
the loose/tight interface may be part of the design, you just got a combo beyond spec

  4. Years ago a friend had anodized valve covers and air breather on a 340 Mopar engine.
Another friend worked for the city, cleaning/refinishing rental apartments.
If I remember correctly, the 340 owner used a chemical floor cleaner (supplied by the apartment cleaner friend) to clean his valve covers.

You guessed it ... anodizing washed right off :D

I'd be inclined to use some chemical (like oven cleaner) before going at the aluminum fittings with a wire brush.

  5. Thanks for the measurements and that is the dimension, .625 - .620 that I have found as well, on the 8090 fittings.

  6. That’s what Edelbrock has said as well and have 2 more enroute from another supplier.

  7. I let fittings soak in a plastic container with this for over a half an hour and it did nothing.

I also can't help but to think the acidic properties of oven cleaner would damage the seal in a swivel fitting.

  8. So you are trying the same part again, just from a different vendor ?
I have a pair of Carters that sometimes I think I would like to redo in hard line.

I was looking at this on marketplace and it looks to have double adapters to get to hard line.

You could just use an AN fitting with a tubing nut and sleeve.

An over night soak in white vinegar will strip anodized and zinc finishes.

  11. 2 more fittings, this makes 6 in total and managed to get one that fits. It is a snug fit and I noticed on the barb fittings they are very loose when threading them in. I think that there is a quality control issue with either the carbs or fittings.

I'd run the brass fitting thru a die and just do a clean up cut. Most quality dies can be adjusted to cut tighter....

    ...

  13. That was my next step as well. Thanks for your advice and lots of solid feedback so far.
