I have a very old pair of Flathead V8 Edelbrock heads. Someone told me not to use them because of unseen corrosion in the jackets?

    How do they LOOK?

Worried about casting flaws? Are they worth the time to make a couple plates to block off the water-jacket ports on the deck and intake surfaces and screw in a schrader valve, put 30psi or so of air pressure on 'em and see if they hold pressure? ****uming you're taking them to a shop to have the seats, etc, cleaned up the head guy might be able to do that for you.

If they don't leak and if the chambers and gasket surfaces aren't*******ed then IMO it comes down to how much it costs to make them usable.

Sorry, forgot to mention that they were Flathead v8 heads.

Still comes down to the same basic consideration - what's the overall condition of the castings, will they hold pressure?
