Found an Edel. manifold for sale (for my FE) from a series I hadn't heard of, and haven't been able to get much more detail out of the seller: "F427" series. Anyone hear of this? Is it a good model? Am trying to figure out what the insert in the back is for, and if it's possible to have that byp***ed when installed. Thanks for any info you have.
Humbolt, Just go to the edelbrock site and look for it. If you can't find it contact the tech questions guys it will take a day or so for them to get back to you but they will give you everything you ever wanted to know about the intake. IE rev range, carb recomendations, when it was built etc. Make sure you ask whatever it is you want to know about the specific intake so they don't have to guess. The PknBner Shameless spam http://www.edelbrock.com Opps I didn't see the picture. That's definately a devided plenum, 180* or whatever you like to call it. And its got a crossover cut into it, the best of both worlds, low end grunt and top end power. Cool.
F427 is a ford big block manifold for a four barrel setup. The intake has a divided intake runners. Some guys open them up in there, and many claim its a good manifold for their applications.
I like asking on here, Justin Case someone has personal experience with it. Ooooh, lookie- a link! What a bud, what a bud. 'Kay, trottin' off for info from them. Hey BTW PnB, got those '53 parts from Dan, they'll be on their way to you this week. The "bowtie" emblem turned out to be the wide hood emblem for (I think) the front. Lil' bigger than first thought, heh heh.
Hey dont sweat the parts. The big piece of chrome will be cool. The wife will just try and put it on something. The story of my life, I peel it off and she tries to put it back on. Hey check my edit. BTW don't buy a Streetmaster, they are an open plenum, built for economy (supposedly). They run alright, but just alright.

Am trying to figure out what the circular inlet in the back is for. Yeah, dual plane all the way. Otherwise why bother converting to 4-barrel? "IMHO" Was originally gonna get the Performer RPM but had been warned by those that had one, before, that for an FE it's more trouble than it's worth, for daily driving. Kicks in 'n hollers awesome, they say, but really fussy in stoplight traffic (moreso than the Performer). After all the bodywork, I'm getting back into working on the motor, again, cleaning it up, lookin' at the stock iron 2-barrel mani thinking, "Well, at least that's goin'." Man, I miss driving 'er.
The crossover is the little cut in the top of the plenum devider. Its an old Smokey Yunic trick, (actually I knew someone that did it before that and he wasn't the originator but Yunic wrote a book). The little round doodad in the back is a place where you can put a PVC valve or a roadraft pipe. I'd go with the PVC, but...just not a purest I guess.
