Just curious guys, this intake is a single plane intake right ? And if it is, can it be run with one carb blocked off ? Of course it will run, but how efficient will the cyl to cyl distribution be and of course will there be more vaccum/throttle response with the one carb only? Also, will there be any issues with the intake "heat" the 97 receives with this intake? ie: unblocjke carb running "cold" ? Looking to block the other carb can be blocked for aesthetics/better throttle response on this fairly stock 21 stud thats in the car till I build a stroker, or at least thats the plan. Just looking to get the 2x2 look I want from this engine/combo till the new engine gets done. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Why would you want to do this? Hot Rod Magazine did an intake manifold shootout using a known h.p. "Mule motor" and the Edelbrock slingshot was at the top of the list for performance beating the "cool looking Tall THICKSTUN" by almost 18 h.p. It is pretty obvious the fuel distribution is pretty good or else it would NOT perform like it does.I have over 55 years of flatmotor experience, and have NEVER understood why some people insist on progressive linkage for only 2 carbs; they end up causing more problems trying to do something the intake was not designed for.
