Irrespective, I still have a mint original that I'll be using plus I have a mint original spare 6x2 log manifold :D

  7. I also saw online they are going to be making a linkage kit and a fuel log....that stuff, I might be really interested in. Just have to wait and see when they come out with it.

that will be sweet, but I hope they do not put their new logo on it.. and keep it nostalgic looking even it they change the name to X-11 (for 2011) to allow people to note the difference. I have wanted one since building my sedan.. hope they are not two crazy in price. (less then $400)

I checked out the link and the X1 looks pretty damn identical to the original to me...the Edelbrock script and X1 look right on...they should still have the patterns so why change it? If they were smart they would reissue many of their old intakes...especially the X1-X4...the X4 is for big block Chevy 6x2 very rare...

Well his web site is http://www.eelcoequipped.com/

I talked with him the other day, seems like a decent guy, was very helpful to me. He spent the time to explain to me how my linkage was laid out wrong and why.

Mixed feelings about reproducing vintage speed parts. Great to be able to buy them new. Cooler to own an original. Hurts or at least confuses the value of the original. But neat to see the market evidently supporting it.

The bad part is ponying up for 6 carbs!

Why be bummed??? They will be reproduced be the same company that put out the originals.. Plus they'll be made right here in the U.S.A.
Do these intakes have casted in dates on them???

They de-value the originals. They do not date them. The owner's of scarce parts are rewarded for having stashed them when they became less popular.

Some call them hoarders. You are not sorry. Spiteful of those who had foresight to stash, tisk-tisk.

It's guys like them that drive the price up on those rare parts that get me bent out of shape.... It seems lately you gotta be rich to build or buy a nice hot rod....

I'd bet they cost just as much as an original....

And supply right now is saturated, people just have them for wall hangers, when was the last time you saw one on the street or strip?? Atleast my Offy 2x4 cross ram is going on my weekend rig!!!

Yeah! There's probably more of those hanging on a wall than there are sitting on a motor..

it would be interesting to know how many were sold originally.. there are alot of car running around with them.. but we all know they are tons sitting in garages. maybe now they will show up at the swapmeets since they are not the collector piece they once where

Because I saved up for and looked for quite a while to find one for sale, finally found one to run on our Model A to have a vintage look that many don't see around.

Then find out about 6 months later they are being redone. Being redone removes the difficulty of finding an uncommon piece and
makes it not so rarely seen....

Wonder what the intake costs now?

I had one a few years back on a T I built and man was it a kick *** intake!!

That being said I see at least one at (almost) every swap I go to, so they're not THAT scarce, but they are by no means cheap. I wish that when Edelbrock reissues them they will at least make a change so we can distinguish the new from the old.

I must have been going to the wrong swap meets, never saw one. Just curious about what they seem to be listed for?

Here is what I bought off craigslist, I ended up only using the intake, fuel log and the linkage.

If ya all want a really nice original setup...type in edelbrock x1 in ebay, and give me a hootowl...lol.I hate to let this go,but i'm not gonna use it anytime soon w/the route i'm going.
If ya all remeber the famous 23 T...Candyman...it was built by several owners, but the one who took it over the top was a gentleman names James Milano out of cali.He built the vette that this was on out of a old retired road race car.

  30. Mine (avatar) will be hard to tell from a new one since it is polished and has allthe casting lettering and numbers smoothed off. Oh well, at least I know it's not new. Maybe I need to take a pic of it with today's newspaper hahaha that'll prove it was around before the new ones came out!
