Hey everyone, I have an Edlebrock 1813 800 cfm carb on my rebuilt 454. I can't get it to run without turning the idle speed screw turned in, byp***ing the idle circut. I've checked for vac*** leaks and I am running the recommend shim plate for my spreadbore intake. The metering rods are all the way down. Let me know if anyone has experienced a similar problem. I've checked and rechecked everything I feel like I'm going insane. Fuel pressure is good, float level is good ETC. TIA

You’re a new guy, and a young one. Which is great. Welcome.

But you’re going to need to post more info on the engine to get any help. Stock/modified/cam, etc. How’s it running when it does? Vacuum readings, idle speed etc.

A little introduction would help, along with your location.

If the throttle blades are closed like they mostly should be at idle, and the idle mixture screws are closed, its getting air from someplace, and likely getting fuel from someplace on or inside of the carb, or it wouldn't run at all.

  4. Read the manual for the carb, Edelbrock does a great job teaching you how their carburetor works, how to adjust it and help diagnosing issues.

    Have you always had issues?

'Most" carb issues are really timing/ignition issues.
    Read gene k^^^^^^ above.
