what i have is a 56 olds 324 with a Eelco adaptor, and a T5 trans.. the adapter came with a clutch fork... i believe from a early 60's chevy truck. i'm not sure what clutch to use.. to be more specific what year pressure plate to use?? the clutch/Pressure plate that i have if from a mid 80's S-10...there is way way too much travel in the clutch fork.. i'm thinking that i need a pressure plate from a early 60's chevy truck, i believe they has a high diaphragm?? or can i keep this clutch set up and use a different clutch fork?? i have a few different TOB as well but even with the tallest one the clutch fork still has way too much travel... is anyone running this set up and if so what clutch , pressure plate, TOb and clutch fork did ya use? your experience is greatly appreciated-
Rich, FWIW I have a transdapt bell for early Olds to Chevy '55 and up and the book says to use GM fork #839240 or 609954 (new issue number), Chev ball pivot 8869561 3/4 head, 7/16 thread 1 7/16 long, GM TOB 2387503. If you are using a GM diaphragm pressure plate use GM TOB 907403. Most likely you will have to use the S10 T5 disc. Don't know if any of this will give you some insight. Might be some similarities in the sysytems, just couldn't guarantee it. PS Forgot to mention that the clutch fork above came form 47-59 Chev tk.
sounds like it could be a similar setup...I yank the engine out later this week..once I do that I'll see what for and tob is in there...I for sure have a t5disc.. off hand would you happen to know the height of the tob's mentioned?? I have a few here..and none have #'s on them! thanks..
Here is some good tips on general clutch stuff FWIW. http://www.clutch-shop.com/tips.htm#gmbrg I do not have a tob to measure. Check with NAPA and see if they can cross the numbers over to a current part or perhaps your local GM parts guy can give you some reference data.
