New member from north of the boarder. Got's me a '58 Chevy Delray w/327. In need of a full custom resto-mod. In no way is this beast going to look like it rolled off the showroom floor. The preivious owner stashed this gem away for the past 27 years. Still runs and drives. Was used as a straight line drag car in the early 70's. hope to gain some knowledge here cuz I need to fix the carb, which has been butchard (no choke components) Wired WOT for racing. I scooped up a decent complete one off evilbay. )that'll be another post..
Umm welcome! I've got a 58 Chevy Biscayne. Does the car still say Del Ray ANYWHERE on it? Usually the dash and rear doors will say it. Reason I ask is because Del Ray's didn't come with the stainless around the door tops OR the two piece side trim with ribbed aluminum between it. It actually looks just like my Biscayne.
Maybe it was different on Canadian Built 58's. I have checked out the VIN Tag and all the numbers say that it is a Delray. On the drivers side the lettering is still there.. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b117/1992YJ/58%20Impala/PA120007.jpg
MAYBE............but I know Del Ray's had less trim then the Biscuit, they phased them out in 58. Guess it's something to research!
