    Dis' is w a y cool Kenny.

  2. Kenny, you know me, I speak my mind. Your 58 was pretty cool but the roofline and side window on that thing looks like ass. Epic Fail. Sorry, the longer door would have made it work.

  3. Thanks Trent.......exactly the reaction I was hoping for from the youthful unknowing newbies in this hobby.....:D
    SERIOUSLY THO....
I feel the same way about most" KUSTOMS "I see people building,so I am still friends wit ya buddy.....
I set out to build a driver that I like and so far, am right on target....

while we are critiquing design skills, why is it that the 57 thru 59 ford Ranchero's[ROOF AND REAR GLASSES] are the most "homemade ill designed body" style ever out of Detroit are so loved?
Ther just is no accounting for taste is there?

  4. I think if the top of the window opening was "flatter". I think the longer doors would have helped, maybe cut down a two-door door and split the difference in length?

Nice idea but I would have to agree with some of the others. The car really needed longer doors from a 2dr. On my 56 I used a 2dr wagon for the conversion.
I have recently started another conversion on a mid 60's 4dr wagon that I am turning into a 2dr with maybe a little Nomad styling. For this I used doors and other parts from an ElCamino.

The shorter version of Kenny choice is more space ship. If it were perfectly proportioned it would be what you want. Not what Kenny wanted. The obvious becomes even more obvious. What is he suppose to go back and build it to you y'all?

  7. I did this one about 12 years ago and sold it....now I did not have the luxury of having the two door parts car and actually[personally] like this look better than the first one...
I could have exactly duplicated the first one if I had wanted to but did not....
.sometimes we as builders have to do what we have to work with [financially and physically] too.
Also a motorcycle will fit in this one's bed where the first had the rear wheel setting on the open tailgate....I haul a small bike['46 James] around and its wheels will both set in the"bed".....

  8. The red one is nice!

  9. Uploaded some pics of my 59 El Camino, I sold this and it went to Sweden about 6-7 years ago. I should never have sold this one, I miss not having it as my daily driver.

I'd miss it too. One of these '59-'60 Elky is a must do once in life. A Bomba is another.

Yes, I had to do a major cleanup again.

Lots of O/T cars removed, as well as the User who made the biggest mess.

Nice work as always OahuEli! I think a 61 Galaxie Victoria would be a good start to a full size 61 Ranchero, rear window is almost vertical.

I've always been an Elco man, had a hand full of 'em, but I gotta say those early Rancheros are pretty darn sweet. And that bird is off the charts!

Busted! lol After doing a photoshop of a Squarebird Ranchero awhile back the end result has bugged me a bit ever since. Doing this black one just reinforces the idea of building a Squarebird Ranchero. Now if I can just find two Squarebirds to start with...
As for your 61 Galaxie idea, its locked in and I'll get started on it this weekend. Being a diehard Ford guy these are my favorites.
To those of you who thought my '59 Thunderbird Ranchero was a real car, thank you. It means I'm actually learning something in Photoshop.:D

Thanks 36 Rokit! Here's another version; chopped about 2 inches, lowered and stretched the wheelbase about 8 inches. I like this one better. Imagine it powered by a 427 side oiler with a toploader behind it.:D
I've been thinking about doing a sedan delivery version of this one.

Sorry Eli, I wasn't trying to "bust" you! I just look forward to seeing your pchops, and the Thunderchero was one of your best.

No probs Phillips, its just fun reading the reactions of folks and heck maybe one or two of 'em has the means to bring one of my ideas to life. That'd be even cooler.
Thanks for the compliment on the ThunderChero too, (I like this name by the way! lol), its something I'd seriously considering building if I was lucky enough to find a Squarebird. I got a few more 'shops in my Photoshop album in case you've never checked it out.

Here are a few other 64 & 65 el caminos Ive collected off the net....some inspiration for my '65 build...My intent is to build a "day 2" car.... I will be running a 283/292 from a 61 'vette I once owned...I have the concept mapped out right down to the front seat.....been debating about a straight axle, but, will probably run a arms, drilled out, with big block springs....anyway....

The black 64 on this contribution shows what Im talking about with the BB springs, it pushes the nose up just a bit and gives it an aggressive look-----this guy also radiused his wheel wells, I wont do that, but, I think its pretty neat to note.....

I'm pretty pysched about what Im gonna do with my car....I plan on religiously bracket racing it as well and will fill the tailgate up with some weight for traction.....anyway, just wanted to keep this thread alive....
