Here is something for you guys to think about. About a decade ago, in the area of Devore, Ca, along old Route 66, I saw parked along the road what seemed to be a '58 Edsel/Ranchero pickup. It was in bad shape and needed lots of paint and cleaning up. Now we all know (or some of us that aren't so young) that Edsel never made a Ranchero type pickup, but I am sure that one could (and did!) take the front nose off of a Edsel body and transplant it onto a '58 Ranchero to make a really unique "Edchero". I never found out who owned it. but if any one had any spare parts of either car of the same year just laying around and had some time to do some "diddling", I'll bet one could make a fine old looking hybrid "Edchero". Yes indeed!

Here are some shots I took of Richie Valles of Burbank CA's beautiful 1959 El Camino at his birthday party...

Thanks man, he bought the car in Iowa around 63 and did the panel job himself when he got it back to Milwaukee. I'm hoping to go the same direction with mine. It's not copying if it's your own pop right?

Do it!! I'd love to see that prowling the streets of the 414. It wouldn't be a copy, it would be a great homage.

Mostly a good look to it. Kenny Baker needs to clean up the lines around the door/cab area and bingo-winner!

great pics. on a side note... scored a 1968 el camino 327 EH code engine/short block today.
Was running well last week; fellow wanted a 350 in his Camaro instead.

I'm so glad I found this thread, I am a couple weeks away from hopefully picking up a 59 Ranchero & this thread has given me some great ideas.

Cool! I hope you start a build thread on this Ranchero. These trucks look pretty cool but seem to be overlooked alot.

Trust me if I get this truck there will be a thread for sure, it is pretty solid right now with only two rough spots, paint is glossy, it has a 460 big block with an overdrive rear end and AC in it already so thats half the battle. I hope to have it in the next couple weeks if all of my cards play out correctly so please keep your fingers crossed! My goal is to have a full on late 50's early 60's Kustom to the max since my Chevy is pretty subtle "Pre-55 kustom" I wanna step outside the box.

    Cheers,

Anyone have more pics or know the story behind this Ranchero by any chance?

    Thanks,
