are you sure your ok? HINT. the courts are pretty slack if it's just a matter of property(beautiful property in this case), but are a little more vigilant if there is bodily injury involved. did you see a doctor/chiropractor? my mom worked in a chiro office most of my life and it's unreal the amount of injury you can have that will not show up for a long time sometimes. at that point it's your problems not her's or the insurance co's. i have permanent damage to my left shoulder from an accident about 10 years ago that didn't hurt until about a month after. the doc's had already diagnosed it before but without them who knows. also if you take her to court the settlements punish from courts for her and much of that will base heavily on your med bills. i loved that thing and it hurts to see that happened, but you and your well being are what are really important here. you can build another car if your health is good. good luck. ask a lawyer on what you can do to make sure that she sees just punishment for this crime which is what it is. seems with a driving record like that the punishment in the past has not fit the crime. these people never learn. same thing happened to my mom 2 weeks ago. second time in 6 weeks. she had only gotten her car back about 2 weeks earlier from someone hitting it in a parking lot and leaving. and no i'm sure she has no concept of what she actually destroyed. they never do. again sorry to hear it and good luck and nail her ass to the fucking cross..ken....
Man I loved that car. Those pics make me sick to my stomach and pissed. Glad to hear your "alright" but I have to agree that there is a thing called "soft tissue damage" that will not show for awhile. My wife got rearended in 1993 and settled in 1994 and now we are still dealing with injuries. They did not start showing up until WAAAYYYY after the accident. I was hoping to see it again at the Lakewood show. The bitch must hang! ChromedRat is right we need a HAMBmilitia in the wings waiting to serve justice AFTER the court system farts around. I have had several friends and family over the years deal with these assholes that drive w/o insurance, suspended liscense, borrowed car and it seems like it never goes the way it should . What is the world coming to? First 1-load buys one of my favorites and now another is toasted by a non-driving bitch. I know where there is a 1960 2 door wagon...it probably isn't for sale but I can ask...what's it going to hurt? He just pulled a 283/glide out of it and is going BBC/4spd. The car is a low mileage granny car and it is STRAIGHT!
Damn that sucks, I loved that car too. And I know you've had it for sale as well. Damn it man. Fuckin stupid ass people. Glad that your ok man, thats the most important thing.
Thank you everyone for your support. So far my lawyer doesn't have too many high hopes on the case. Something about blood from a turnip... As far as me physically, I'm doing fine right now, and I don't really expect too much more pain. However, I am very familiar with pain showing up later. In fact, my wife is still dealing with constant pain from an accident five years ago. With a fractured spine, several broken ribs, glass in her face, internal bleeding ,etc. etc., after all was said and done she got about eight thousand dollars for all her trouble and pain.
I also had the misfortune of being run over by an asshole without insurance who also had a record, including hit and run. we showed up at court, he showed the judge a fake insurance id (fraud, if I'm not mistaken) and they gave him a ticket for FAILURE TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY! Oh, ya think? He was only driving in REVERSE on a one way feeder! Lucky you were in steel; I was on a Vespa I tried calling the courts about the insurance-they couldn't care less. Wrote the Att. General about crime victims compensation-said that unless he was committing a crime (I guess running someone over isn't anymore) they couldn't pay me. I filed in small claims court, won and basically have a piece of paper saying this guy owes me 6k. Doesn't mean jack shit. I say we start a website with these assholes on it and take shit into our own hands. Dirty Deeds-Done Dirt Cheap!
First off sorry about that! Luckily you were in good ole american steel to protect you. Unfortunetly it totalled it, but if you were in a new crap box it would be alot worse. Satin
You do not have very good luck with the cars you build. Atleast you were able to enjoy this one longer that the Mustang.
Big Fink, I am sorry for your lose. The images of your Elcamino were sickening. That's the trouble you drive em they get hurt, sometimes. My F100 is my newest vehicle , use it every day. Had a guy pull out in front of me a few months back. He wasn't insured, but I got money out of him. He still owes me $1200, which I am confident I will get. At least I was able to fix mine. Geoff aka Whodaky
Sad stuff, Big Fink. Glad you are allright. I dont understand how one can be allowed to drive at all with no insurance, or did I understand that wrong? I would not recommend to do so over here.. Wont your insurancecompany go after the other driver to cover their loss? It would be very cool if the El Camino was fixable, but it damage looks pretty heavy.
Jman, I'm sorry man, but who are you? May seem like a silly question, but I'm trying to figure out who you are, and my memory is blank. Which Mustang are you talking about, my first one? ( green '79 ) That was my first car ever, built it for two years, and had my license less than a month when I was rearended at an intersection in the rain. That sucked. Took eleven months to get any money, and ended up with less than half of what we should have got.
It sucks when you have to pay it, but I am glad that it is illegal to drive in NJ without liability insurance.
I can now see how Murder Incorporated stays in bussiness, i wonder if they operate out of the NJ tri-state area?
Well now I'm pissed. Make her life hell, even if you can't get a dime. Make them send her ass away somewhere. Glad you are OK dude. Good thing you weren't on your bike.
Don't count on the court system! I just went through this when someone drove into my back bumper while I was waiting to make a left turn. DISTROYED my 86 Grand National that I had ordered new. Their lawyer apparently was better than mine, as they (the jury) was led to believe that I Had stopped short. When in fact, about fifteen cars came by while I was waiting to turn. Needless to say they found Him and I were BOTH at fault, therefore, No settlement for me. I still HURT every day! (C5 nech injury in 1996) Thanks, McCray
That really sucks! Your car was an inspiration to me when I did mine. Hope everything works out OK for you.
[ QUOTE ] Damn that sucks. that looked like a real sweet elky. well it looks fixable i got my wrecked 50 driveable (even though i flipped it off the freeway) but still was pretty ruff but i found a deal on another 50 so i'm gonna end up crushin the wrecked one.but all i did was bang out the fenders alot and cut of the roof and it just looked liek a real shitty 50 but it ran hehe.i didn't drive it very far just out of the drive way but anythings possible man. [/ QUOTE ] MAN!! I just saw a pic of this truck in Ol Skool Rodz latest edition. I recognized it by the door painting. It always sucks when you lose a classic.
The bottom line is that insurance is a fuckin' scam and the state's in on it. They really don't give a shit about you or your belongings. Even when it's very obvious it's not your fault (hurricanes, for example) insurance agencies will give you the runaround for months. Much like income tax, which should have been abolished after the Depression, insurance is another way the state manages to fuck us out of cash... Now if you excuse me, I have a milita meeting to attend and some canned goods to stock in my bunker
Jman, It hit me after I asked who you were that it was you. What threw me was who in the hell I knew in PA that knew me in 1995. And would have been familiar with my first Mustang, and who knew my lawyer. The brain works a little slow sometimes. Must be all gummed-up with bong resin. Not that I know how that would have happened...
After I talked to you I was looking for the El Camino but was never able to find it. Not sure if you would be interested or if it is really even for sell but I know where there is a '59 wagon. I think it is a Parkwood (4 door), kinda rough but it is close to you. that is assuming it is still there. It is at the U Store and Sell place off of Wilson. They have it in the very back behind the building.
I believe that in this type of case, it is acceptable in the eyes of the law, to calmly remove yourself from your vehicle, appraoch the occupant of the other car and get the info. If at this point the perp in question IS female, in a borrowed car, no liscence, no insurance, and a driving history worse that Tony Stewarts, then IN THIS CASE, AND THIS CASE ONLY, to walk back to your vehicle, reach behind the seat, (or go into the trunk, if your vehicle has one), and remove your "Fish Club" or "Luisville Slugger", (with thicker gauge walls of course), and walk back to the perps car, and fuckin bounce one off her fuckin dome fer bein stupid! And then make her come back to your house so she can explain to your family what she has done. People like that should be punch repeatedly. Dumb ass, inconsiderate, selfish toilet........*WHEW*...ok...I'm better now........
Man that SUCKS! Glad you are OK! Suspended license! No insurance! I bet the BITCH was on the cell phone!
