Hey notrod13, pic#5 is the perfect dry lakes pic, so far. It just captures the essence of the LSR experience. I can smell the dust and hear the wind. Really great shot.

I had really wanted to make it out to El Mirage for this, but there were two other events going on this weekend for me and I couldn't make it, so these pictures are bittersweet. Great photos, but I still wish I had gone!!

And........there's a throwback to my midwest dirt track roots.......the Benny Hofer coupe.......I built cars that ran against Benny at Davenport Ia, Tipton Ia., Cedar Rapids Ia. etc........I LOVE it.

yeah... by 'over there', i was more meaning the entire country.... we're going to be in Bonneville for SpeedWeek... doesn't look like there's any racing at El Mirage the entire time we're there... (only 5 weeks anyway)

Bob,once again, a great pic documentation of a great event! El Mirage is a slippery MoFo, most of those cars tires are spinning much faster than the timed speed!

Thanks for the hospitality all weekend guys, was really cool to put faces to names. We had a ball, hanging out, watchin the races, meetin people, and floggin round in the old 40 ford racecar Will definately be out in July again.

tall paul, was that model a in a guys yard off sheep creek in phelan? it seems every time i head out that way there's a different project in his yard, nice guy just not sure what he does with all of them.

 

Not too sure where it was as i'm still learnin!! HAHA the guy had a TONNE of stuff sittin round, his brother lived next door with a TONNE more crap lyin round too. said they'd lived there about 30 years, and there looked to be 30 years worth of junk. the brother had some stuff for sale, nothin too desirable, and prices about high swap meet prices. The coolest things weren't for sale though, like that coupe, and an A pickup with hopped up 4 banger.

 

Did most people just stay or the day or did lots camp out on the dry lake? What's the date for next year?

The race is June 13 and we'll be going out on Sat for the pre race festivities and sleepin in the dirt!

 

Most of the racers camp for the weekend as do a good number of spectators.

 

Just don't let the guy with the hotdogs and BBQ leave early!!!!!!!!!! hahaha!
