Has anyone seen or heard of a fuel gage sending unit made to fit a stock model A tank ?
My coupe has an electric fuel gage which works. Apparently the sending unit is hidden behind a 32 type dash which was installed by the builder. In the next few days I'll be dropping the dash to have a look, and to replace leaky gaskets in the stock gage. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of such a critter installed in a model A tank.

You missed the point Mr 48. My stock model A tank has been fitted with a working 12 volt fuel gage sending unit. Before I tear into everything, I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this conversion, or might know what type of sending unit was used. Gaskets, rebuild kits and complete stock fuel gages are readily available for model A's. My stock gage is hidden behind a fitted 32 dash.

Well, I located the sending unit for my fuel gage. It's mounted in the bottom of the stock tank, just to the left of center. A round hole was cut in the bottom of the tank, and the mounting plate for the sending unit TIG welded in. As soon as I'm feeling acrobatic, I'll stand on my head and get a picture of how it was installed. I'll also try to get ID numbers off of the sending unit, in case someone else wants to try installing an electric gage using a stock A fuel tank.

I did something similar with my model A gas tank....but I didn’t modify the tank at all. I used the sender that came with the SW Winged gauges and cut it down to fit where the sight gl*** and original gauge were originally.
Locked it in with the original hardware.
Had to bend the float wire 90 degrees at just the right spot. Been working great for 15 years.
I also have a 32 dash in front of the stock “A” tank like yours. sender.jpg
