still seems very wrong, look at the last line! Leave all others the same, even 1 and 2, yet you say to put left rear on pin 2, and right front on pin 2! Might want to rethink!!

It looks like the whole thing is wrong and made to work and no results.
So this is what i think may work and tests ok on paper.
    Right or wrong here goes.

When you press the brake and the rear quits flashing, does the front continue to flash?

The original schematic is correct but this will work as well.
All you have done is trade the wipers and the Normaly open pins
on the front turn signals, he is having a problem with the rears

Here are pics of the flashers. They are slightly different, but both under the same Radio Shack part#.

When you press the brake pedal you can hear the (electronic, not thermal)flasher stop clicking, and the front signal stops flashing as well. Next chance I get I will pull the bulbs and re-re check the grounds.

This is the problem I think. You can,t have 3and 4 all common. If they were all common the left front and right front would flash at same time.
Left relay 4 wired to 5 when up goes to 3 left light.
Same with right relay 3 goes to 6 keeping right light from flashing. So what i,m saying 3and 4 and 3and 4 should not be common. If your bulbs are light at all its not the bulbs.
Use my diagram and try it as shown.

    OK-
I finally solved my problem, and I want to say that ******Jack's gizmo works fine just as he drew it.
Back at the beginning when I said it was probably "Something silly" I was right.
And when the experts say to check your ground- AGAIN - just run a temporary wire from the negative post on the battery to be absolutely sure.
I just spent hours chasing a problem that I could've solved in a few minutes if I hadn't ***umed my "good" ground was good.

Many thanks to all who helped!

And to any one wanting to run an old turn signal switch: Just follow ******Jack's directions carefully and it'll work fine.
