one my 55 I have a prc crossflow with spal dual fans and a spal electronic controller. the controller went south so I called spal to see about getting it repaired or replaced with a newer one. so now I find out that spal doesn't carry fan controllers any more. you'd think since they are one of the major players in the electric fan market they wouldn't get out of the controller market. oh well.

soooooooo, any suggestions on a replacement. it would also have to have an a/c circuit on it. been searching the net but not sure just what is prefered today. I really don't want to use one with a probe. I have the temp sensor in the intake. could wire up direct and may do so, but looking for suggestions.

    thanks in advance,

    alan

  2. Just use your temp sensor to activate a relay for the fan...That way you could add an input B+ to the relay circuit from the A/C clutch circuit to turn on the fan when the A/C clutch is activated.

Call Vintage Air. They are spal dealers and have several switch choices for fan activation - that are based on engine coolant temp AND a/c compressor head pressure (very important).
800.862.6658 ask for Ruebin Weir or Mark Hungerford.

We had exactly the same experience with the SPAL controller on my Son's rpu. It wouldn't come on. So we called SPAL and he told us to hook up the purple wire to hot and that would bypass it and let us know if the controller was truly bad. We did that and it worked, but when I callled back to tell him that and ask for a replacement he said they were out of the controller business !

That tells me they had a LOT of failures with them. We also had a Ron Francis controller melt on my other Son's T bucket and we replaced it with a Centech, whiich seems to be working ok now.

Me, I just don't use any controller at all..........don't like them. I just use a switch that I control and it has worked that way troublefree for 25 years.
