Not a ton of pictures to post today. Did spend a full Sunday on it.

    - Installed needle bearings on front spindles and new kingpins.
    - Bent drivers side tie rod arm up to make clearance for the wishbones.
    - flipped the tie rod around since it was on backwards and the bolt was bumping the wishbones.
    - put on the Bob Wilson front backing plates. Need grease seals for the drums.
    - made the gas tank brackets and test fit installed the tank in the trunk.
    - Went to the hardware store and found some pipe for a steering column mast. Cut/fit/cursed and installed.
    - Welded tapered end of a passenger steering shaft onto the F1 steering shaft.

A little project I did take pictures of was the reshaping of the oil breather tube on the top rear of the flathead intake. I was unable to get the breather on because of it being so close to the firewall. A little search helped me to find that there apparently is a bent tube offered on the Lincoln Zephyrs. They are also hard to find.

    So, I made my own.

drove the steel pipe out of the base and cut the bottom off. Then cut a wedge shape on the bottom of the top piece. I made sure the dimples were side to side, and not front to back, accidentally cutting into them.

Welded the two pieces together and then ground down the welds and finished with a flap disk.

Put it in the bead blaster so that the paint would stick better...

And there it is with a little paint. Looks factory to me!

Also took a few pictures of the dash again before leaving...

The little shit eats it up. Mount for clutch pivot shaft ball made. Steering arm modified and on. Drag link figured out. Exhaust eyeballed. The only thing left on the frame is to cut and install the crossmember for seat belts.

Thats awesome, but it's kinda sad to cut up a nice original. Good work and cool car though.

Been busy working and not posting. Engine, trans and rear are now in for good. Front end complete. Putting rear brakes on today. May start wiring up the engine in a couple hours.

    Time for another update...

Fabbed up the battery tray and the seat belt crossmember, then sanded the frame again before paint... Battery tray copies the design of the original Model A battery tray, but now it is on the passenger side rather than the drivers side. This works better because the flathead starter is opposite the Model A starter.

Here it is painted ready for reassembly

Got the rear end installed again. I put a leaf back in since I was getting a little bit of bottom out when going over railroad tracks. With the gas tank in the back, I'll need a little more support now.

See no failure, hear no failure, speak no failure!!

I'm using a Model A rear for the Round Up. One thing necessary is to grind the lip off the 40 ford backing plates and the inner lip of the drums..

Another thing crossed off the list! I'm not sure if the list is shrinking or still growing though! haha

I got my wife involved. I need all the help I can get. While I was buttoning up the transmission, I had her install the clutch and pressure plate and press the throw out bearing on the transmission snout.

The mated engine and transmission ready to be put in the frame.

Connecting it to the rear end. This is the final time before the round up.

Started lacing up the crab distributor.

Rebuild courtesy of Bubba's Ignition and 3 bolt to 2 bolt adapter brought to you by Dick Spadero. Thanks guys! Beautiful parts!

And here she sits waiting for me to get my butt back over there tonight.

Picked up the piece of cardboard to look at what we've done...

Then we took an inventory of what's left to do, and what's left to buy and added a few things to the list. WHAT HAPPENED?!?!! :D

    9 DAYS LEFT!

"ORDERING" all the brake stuff today, and Reds Headers doesn't start MAKING the header until Friday. Then it has to travel through the mail. It wouldn't be a thrash if it wasn't coming down to the wire!!

Tried the stockers and it is soooooooooooo close. could maybe grind a little on the cast iron, and on the top of the steering box and it would then bolt up, but would put the engine in a bind at that point. The engine would be sitting on the steering box Pretty frustrating!

I'm totally impressed ... and will be looking for you and the coupe at Roundup! I had some thoughts about bringing my `28 A-V8 roadstr to Roundup as a "work in progress" but ultimately decided I didn't want to take it all apart yet another time after I got home. I'll just shoot for having it in presentable form in time for the Revolution. But I do have it far enough along that I can crank it up and listen to it at will -- that's my motivation!!

    See you in Austin!

Looks awesome Gary! Do you have a drivers side photo of how you did the headers on that side? What steering box are you running?
