My favorite "popular" song is Latest Flame, oh, and I have a killer studio version of Su****ious Minds with just Elvis and no background singers... its good too... But by far my favorite is ANY GOSPEL Elvis ever sang... anyone can sing gospel, but Elvis gives me goosebumps when he sings it... I think because he really meant what he was singing... it touched him too.
Here's a shot from one of my favorite Elvis movies. I saw it when it first came out. Who you callin' a geezer? pigpen
there were other cats that predated him...in sound,in lyrics,in rhythm but E had the whole package that many couldn't match. when you've got looks to go with voice,musicianship,style,etc....you've got it! the down fall of course was and allways is.....DRUGS! unfortunately he was doing this since he was in the ARMY stationed in germany. in 1976 a SUN RECORDING artist and fellow vintage vinyl record collector i know met up with elvis at a show where this ol rocker by the name of BILLY POOLE wore a SUN RECORDS t-shirt. ELVIS saw it and paid him $100.00 to take it off! with the resergence in nostalgia and the popularity to create authentic old sounds (like some of us do with our cars..making them period perfect) i wonder if people like E are looking down at us and now grinning?
What was that one drama he starred in, it was one of the black and whites, I think he was a boxer? I can't hardly remember the movie, but man, he was so damned good in it, he could have been one amazing actor.
Yeah man, I love that song Watching The Detectives, one of my favorite albums is Get Lucky.......oh wait, wrong Elvis.
dead. i heard he died with somethin like 35 pounds of poo in his colon due to the pills and burger, fries, milkshake for dinner. elvis rules.
