hi there. please pass on our email address (rickiwood@xtra.co.nz) to your daughter and tell her to get in touch with us if she has time. we can take her around to the hotrod club and show her the car which is back in rebuild stage. so its all stripped back to bare metal and getting the panel work done and more custom touches. the desoto hasnt hit the road yet as the pic you see here was a mad rush to put it together for a local show over here called the hotrod blowout. so, not even running yet, just a roller. should be finished by january if not earlier.

hope we get to meet your daughter.

thanks for the encoutaging words. have a closer look and you will notice that the desoto is still infact a 4 door. its just been worked to look like a 2 door, so i guess it has had the desired effect. its still not finished yet so keep an eye out for more pics as we go. will post some more soon.

    thanks

    emma

  8. Welcome to the HAMB. I really like the Desoto but you got the steering wheel on the wrong side. That's right, I said it...

Watch out for these guys. Never in my life have I met a more lecherous bunch. I'm so proud of all of them.

Nice photos. And I dig the club name. I happen to have a business up near Chicago with the same name. Welcome to the HAMB.

Welcome Emma. I'm pretty new on here to. I found you can learn some really cool stuff on here by browsing the older threads. I'd like to see some close up shots of the DeSoto, can you send me some? I'm doing a 54 Dodge sedan, basic stuff at the mo, & then top chop later. Enjoy!

gday louie. heres a link to a website in new zealand which has some early build up pics. as im still on the process of building there will be more posted on here eventually. we started off with a basket case of a car so there is a lot of work being done. all door skins. rebuilt 2 door frames too. both front pillars. rear body mounts. and plenty more.

anyways, click the link. theres 4 pages of stuff there so flick on through. if you get time, send us some pics of your dodge to rickiwood@xtra.co.nz it always good to see what people are doing with something a little different.

    cheers

    ricki (emmas worse half)

    Hey Louie,

Just for a little inspiration just incase you want to customise the Dodge, These are the changes i made on my 54 desoto

    Headlights 55 chevrolet
Tailights, 60 plymouth turned upside down
Custom Skirts, 54 customline bonnet cut up
Grill, exsisting 55 dodge but im not happy with it so it will be a hand fabricated piece now
    Back Window, 51 Spinner
Engine, Baby hemi 265 valiant motor split headers

Cant wait to see a pic of you car

(I'm on holidays and going to do a few jobs on the old girl (the car, not the wife!!!). I'll post some pics in a thread about frenching my headlights when it's completed. Your car's gonna rock when it's done. Who said fordors aren't kool. I got some questions so I'll PM you at some stage.
