yeah get that sign! i know neon sign collectors would pay to have it. or maybe someone would buy the whole diner and move it to another property. not easy but it's been done before.

I just heard a really cool old neon sign in Rhode Island just got trashed. I am bummed because I wanted to try and bu it but did not move fast enough.

 

I wouldn't get nostalgic over that sign or the diner, it looks like a Happy Days/ShaNaNa facsimile of a bygone era. It's about the same as a purple and turquoise hot rod with Champ 500s and dry brush graphics. All part of an era I'd just as soon forget.

 

However the neon clock inside appears to be a genuine Glo-Dial and the ceiling fan is a real Zeppelin, save those.

 

I just looked at the interior shots, you're right there is a lot of "kitsch". Neon bending and sign-making seems to be a dying art/industry so I appreciate the sign even if it was made in the Eighties. Would be shame to see it end up in a dumpster.

 

Starship records and Tapes is gone.

I'm told everything in the Metro, including the sign will be auctioned off December 14th or 16th.

 

Hey, if anyone happens to have a menu from there, they want to sell, shoot me a PM. My wife has wanted one from there for years, all they would give her were the take out menus. Wouldn't even sell her one. Serious if anyone has one let me know. Thanks
