Dielectric or "spark plug boot" grease. you could have damaged the insulator on the plugs when you put them in, easy to do on a sbc with big headers. at 1.19 a piece, i'd throw new plugs and some dielectric at it.

Refreshing this thread. Ive got a 54 chevy 210, recently put a 350 SB in. It was running great for a few months then started surging at speed. Replaced the fuel filter (there was just the one at the time) by adding one high micron filter before the fuel pump and one lower micron filter after the fuel pump.

Car ran well for about a month or so, then started surging again. Changed the filter in front of the fuel pump again and still surging. The car starts right up, and drives fine until cruising around 35 mph and then starts choking / surging.

A few other details, before the issues started I moved from CO to MA. Maybe needs the carb tuned to accommodate lower al***ude? Also, the car sometime struggles when shifting from 1 to 2. Sort of a pause like it's going to choke.

Any thoughts? I was sure it is fuel delivery related but then read this thread and feel like it could be a whole lot of things. I am admittedly learning my way with this stuff. Very little experience. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you'd be better off starting a new thread rather than resurrecting a stone dead one with no apparent connection to your car.

Will do. Seemed pretty relevant to what mine is doing.

People in general have the attention span of a three year old when they get online. ;) You'll get some replies to you new question, sure, but usually also the handful of people who only read the beginning of the thread, don't see that it's old enough to legally drive, and answer that instead so the original discussion restarts... Better to start over clean, less confusion. You can always throw in a link to an old thread, if you feel there's enough connection to it.

    My first thought was sparkplugs.

I seen old post with new problem with another ,,,

Debris floating around in gas tank?
Sock in tank restricting / clogged?
Vent to small or clogged ?
Take gas cap off / loose

Try a temporary 1-2 gallon tank & see if problem is fuel related between
Original tank & feed to fuel pump
