He put in a new cam and lifter set too..

 

Did you check the fuel pressure with a different gauge like Darby suggested? Try another fuel pump?

 

OK I put the NEW coil and plugs in at lunch and it looks like it may have FIXED the problem.

I can't belive I have 4 ****ING bad coils at home but at this point it looks like it! I was only able to run it for about 15 min at lunch so I will know toinight if it is fixed. I am going to head out to a rod run tonight so that should be a good test.

If it does fix it ..... THANKS to eveyone that tossed ideas at me! If not I'll be back for more.

 

did you ever change the spark plug wires

 

I had a similar problem 30 years ago .If I remember right it was a missmatched coil.Some have a internal resistor and some used a external resistor.Lot of brain cells over the dam.

 

well i spose if it was just the coil you got one hell of a tune up in finding that out! should run great now with all that new work done lol
