    tag says it's a 1964 361 (the bigger truck version of the 360).

    if you can believe the tag. Usually a good idea on FE engines to measure bore and stroke if you want to know the real displacement.

    I have read that the 1 in 361 means it has a forged crank.

    Yep. FT Ford. Think FE with upgraded internals like a forged crank, better rods, high flow water pump, more heat resistance valves, and other tweaks to prepare a car motor for duty in a heavy truck. You can also tell by the heat riser exhaust passages in the center of the cylinder heads.

    Displacement is anybody's guess after 52 years. The overspray would lead me to assume it has been gone through at least once. Easiest thing to do would be to pull a plug and use a straw to measure stroke. 3.5" = 330 or 361, 3.78" = 391.

    I’ve rebuilt a few of those and generally they use 7/16 sodium filled exhaust valves. No big deal if it’s running ok and your using as is but they get expensive and don’t flow to well. They can be converted though.

  10. Yep big truck motor in a tilt cab like is posted - we had a beast of a big tanker truck at Dallas Love Field Airport when I was a ramp jockey. I use to warm er' up with a early morning drive around the access road because no one knew how to get it going......and we always seam to need er' ready to go on short notice..
