Ok fellas have a long drawn out story to just ask one question. So I recently did a full motor swap on a 1950 chevy fleetline. Took the old 216 out and put in a 1954 235. Swap went as clean as could be. No real issues. Car ran great for about a week. Then it started popping and misfiring upon initial start up if I gave it gas. Once it warmed up it was fine no real issues. So I got a timing light out and timed it to the ball on the fly wheel and the little rod that hangs there. No problem. Ran fine for about 5 minutes. No pop no misfire but I heard a slight valve tap in the back of the valve cover. So I took that off and adjusted that valve. Tightened it to stop the tap. Started the car up and the thing ran like absolute shit. Didn't pop but it was shaking like crazy. So I readjusted the valve back again no change.

Then I realized my vacuum advance wasn't moving. So I figured I'd replace that. I was looking online and saw that they changed the distributors from 50-54. I used the 216 distributor in the 235. So I swapped that all out and put the one from the 235 in. Swapped points and condenser. Cap and rotor. New plugs. Car would turn but still ran like heck. Today I put new plug wires on figuring one may have gone bad and that was why it was missing. It sounds like it's missing in a cylinder all of the sudden and that's why it's shaking like crazy. New wires and now it won't even fire up. I also replaced the coil as well. I can't for the life of me figure this out and it's frustrating. I'm up in arms. Hopefully someone can sort through this book I wrote and help guide me in some sort of direction as to where to go from here. I'm open to suggestions. I'm sure it's something so stupid. Yes vacuum lines are hooked up haha. Thanks -Chris

Try it with another new condenser first. Even new ones can be bad.

How's the cam? Do a compression test on each cylinder, with all of the plugs removed. Whatcha got? Also test for proper spark at each plug tip.

I haven't done a compression test yet. Spark on the plugs seems right. The tips don't look burnt or funny. Condenser could've gone bad. As far as gas and what not the fuel isn't old at all. I drive this thing everyday when it's not broken. The gas tank is also brand new along with new lines. It's getting fuel because I can smell the fuel. Like I said Monday night and Tuesday night it ran. Just idled like shit but it would go.
