so i was looking at Butch's swap sell it site for the engine mount kit for fitting the 302 in to a 55 and noticed than the part number for the kit is diferent between the 6 pot and 8 pot engines so is the engine mount cross member not the same ? i have the straight six and am weighing up my options
I asked this Q a short while back, go to search and engine mounts and you ca find the discussion. Hope this helps.
I think the number of holes is different. I have a 6 cyl car and it had 2 holes for the motor mounts and the stud on the 302 mount needs to be right in the middle of the two slots. I just modified my mounts to make the groove longer. Then I used fox body mustang mounts. I put a level on the motor to make sure it was level side to side. That was all before I found this group with all the knowledge they have. Swap mounts sound so easy. Buy them.
