I want to paint my 1958 hemi block. There is a lot of pitting on this block from sitting outside for years. Is there any paint out there that would fill most of the imperfections. I could sand them out but that would take some time.
http://www.kbs-coatings.com/RustSeal.html Guy started a thread about this stuff and he said it filled very well. Look it up by kbs , pretty sure that in his****le.
Depends on what you want when you're finished. Stock looking, with some texture, or smooth? You;ve got to clean it thoroughly, I mean immaculately, then begin. If it's real bad, I'd sand off some of the worse stuff. Then clean again, and shoot some epoxy primer over it, I use House of Kolor KP-2, so it fills as well as having great adhesion. Then knock off some of the epoxy, leaving it in just the pits. Then one more coat of epoxy , then paint. It should still have some cast iron looking texture to it. If looking to smooth it all out, I did a 'how to' on doing this, all the tools, abrasives you need to accomplish it, and types of piant you can use...do a search. "Painting engines the show car way".
http://www.alvinproducts.com/Products/Products.asp?id=1 Get the casting as clean as possible, skim a thinned coat of lab metal and then sand. Only going to get out of it,what you put into it.
