just got a engine stand to mount up my chrysler small block. the thing didnt come with the bolts to mount to the stand though. can someone tell me if the bell housing bolt size is pretty universal between engines, and if so ( or not) what size bolts and thread to get to mate the two together?
    thanks in advance

Use grade 8 coarse thread, try some of the shop bolts you have and take them to your bolt supplier. Buy some washers, too.

Usually they will be 3/8 coarse. As said, use grade 8 and make sure you have enough thread to go into the block... at least 3/4 of an inch. Get the heaviest washers you can.

Hopefully that stand has enough adjustment options to bolt to that block.
A lot of imports from HF and others require modifying the plate to work.
Others have such big holes in the fingers you need several size washers.

Also be careful when tightening up to the engine. Ive seen some stands that are warped or not welded in a jig; these will put excessive strain on your block.

OTOH there are some real good imports.

Flatheads and small block fords use 7/16. Chrysler may be the same.
