will a 400 out of a 78 F250 4x4 fit in a 1954 Customline? There is one for sale with a rebuilt C6 transmission for 500 bucks. It looks to be the same size as the Y-Block.

    Thanks

The 400 M shares the same mounts as a 351C and 351W so this is what I would recommend,do the modification to the frame pads shown below and do a trial fit with a HD cherry picker install the engine and transmission as a unit with the engine mounts lined up you will see what mods may need doing with trans mount,if the F-250 mounts are in good shape they should work. driversidebefore.jpg driverssideafter.jpg

To be honest, this question has me puzzled.... An F250 4 x4 ?? with a C6? I'm ignorant as hell when it comes to mechanics on stuff I don't own, but isn't a 4 x 4 going to have a transfer case in there somewhere?

I guess you may be correct, Jeff...Going back and rereading, he only asked if the 400 would fit.
