Hi, I gust picked up a 48 dodge coupe. All the hard work is done. It has a 283 vet motor in it. Runs perfect. But I can't justify this bad *** car not having a mopar 383 or 440. Easy thing to do is put a nasty 350 in it. It will drop rate in. I want allot more power and the car should be all mopar. Has anyone done a swap like this? Any help wold be nice thanks ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1400213213.418166.jpg

  2. First Question, what do you want to do with the car? Daily driver, weekend toy, street/strip car? I haven't done the exact swap you asked about, but I have a '48 Plymouth Coupe w/ (slightly off topic for this board) a late model Hemi in it. It's a great combo, plenty of power, 19 mpg combined, still all mopar. I'm still working out a few programing bugs in it, but overall I'm VERY happy with it.

that car would be sweet with an early hemi.

  4. Looks like someone might have done a frame swap on this one, note the Firebird wheels (lug pattern is GM) and with a 283 already in it I'd guess it's a frame swap too. I agree on the MOPAR engine though, We've got a '49 Coronet and plan to keep it along the family lines. Sweet car though...ever think about a chop?
