Been a long time coming but finally got to work on the coupe today. Ch***is will be getting it's center section soon and the engine will be sent off for rebuild. Hope to have a finished turn key ch***is for christmas :).
Ol 409 out of a 65 firetruck with 9 thousand miles on the clock. Zero bore with smooooth cylinder walls. Truck applications had the low comp 348 heads. They'll be getting hogged with some larger valves to compliment the biggers cam and pistons . Restored three deuces is ready to go (mound dry lake stacks). Hope to check in real soon with an update.

The truck blocks had the large relief cut in them to add volume and drop compression.

Since the combustion chamber is essentially in the block on the W motors and not in the heads themselves, I think Rich may be questioning the existence of a low compression truck head.

Yup, you guys are absolutely right. Should have stated the relief in the block and the smaller valved heads for the truck apps.

there wasn't any "W" engines anywhere around here a few years ago. Now there's five rods with a 409 within an hours drive.
