    Will a 1946 Mercury transmission bolt up to a 1951 ford engine and if so what clutch linkage needs to be used with it in the 46 Mercury car?

    Yes…..as long as you use the appropriate bell housing adapter. You would need either the 1948-52 Ford truck adapter (which is cast iron) or the 1949-50 Mercury adapter (which was dimensionally the same but stamped steel). Both have the same big round bolt pattern to mate with all of the 1932-48 Ford and Merc 3 speed transmissions. You have to have the matching starter plate for the adapter you choose. We have a few of the truck adapters, with correct starter plates, in stock.
