Thought I'd post a pic of the inst. panel. It was beat up and had some surface rust. Always like the engine turned panels on '32 Fords so this guy in Ohio turned it for me. Had my original gauges redone. Didn't want to go with new aftermarket gauges. Anyway here's a pic. Kent
I usually like the Chevy dash over the GMC, but.....WOW that is beautiful. Now I will have to rethink my preference.
WOW! That's way cool! I did one on an aluminum insert for our '32 dash. Used drill press with a craytex stick, WD40 and lots of patience! Really lots'a fun...
I think the '55 and '56 GMCs are about my favorite trucks ever! The dash looks great too. I've done tons engine turning over the years, every thing from 1/2 cratex sticks on stainless for dash panels to a 8' X 36' monument sign for the entrance to Phoenix International Raceway with 6" swirls on aluminum.
Cool! I have a childhood memory of a guy with a 56 GMC with a 400 Pontiac/4-speed in it doing smokey donuts in front of the cop shop in my hometown of Morrison Il. home of Arnie the Farmer Beswick.I have loved those old GMCs ever since!
