Has anyone ever tried it? Would it be too likely to rust and look like ****?

Out of curiosity, what tool(s) do you use when you engine-turn something?

If you engine-turn the Ni layer, is there a rule on how deep the turnings must be so that you can see it thru the Cr layer?

  5. Lots of thread here covering how to do it. But, the Nickel is very easy to scratch so you wont need to be as aggressive on it!

What if it is already chromed though?

  9. You will be tearing thru the chromium and into the Nickel underneath. It will start oxidizing odd I would bet.

  10. I tried it years ago, if you went "deep enough" for the effect,,, it looked like ****. I threw the panel away. Practice on a garbage piece first, you and I might have different tastes. Use different roughnesses.
