Technical engine vin decoding sbc

I have picked up a nice runnig 1957 283 4 barrel engine with the original powerglide. I have checked the casting numbers for this much information. My question is about the vin# which is F62OGC can any one figure out the code for this engine as to what it might have been in?

 

F 6 20 GC was****embled in Flint on June 20th, and it was originally equipped with a 4 bbl carb and Turboglide transmission.

 

Thanks. It looks like it's got all the original equipment on it. I did confirm that it was a one year 57 block by the casting numbers.

 

The powerglide was not original, but they had a lot of trouble with the turboglide, it could have been swapped many years ago.

 

Another way to tell if it is an early block is the lack of side mount bosses.

 

the casting date on the top rear of the block will tell you when it was made, it is probably a 57, it could be a 56

 

Most likely it had to be swapped. The casting number is 3731548 and what I came up with it is a one year only 57 block
